40 + 10 and bad period pains

AntarcticEther · 10/12/2011 15:53

Had a show at 10:00 am , and brown discharge on my undies all day , and have been getting bad period pains every couple of minutes , lasting only for about 20 secs. Proper contractions will be far more painful and last longer won't they ?

No you are in labour, ring the labour ward and start getting ready - babys is coming! Good luck Smile

TysTheSeasonToBeJolly · 10/12/2011 15:58

Labour for sure, good luck :)

AntarcticEther · 10/12/2011 16:00

It's isn't massively painful at all , just up and down peaks lasting 20 secs or less . I thought it would be more obvious , and I wouldn't need to ask .

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/12/2011 16:33

They won't let you in too early! Ring them and they will tell you when to next call them.
So exciting for you, good luck!

Yep, go in now. This is how I was with ds, contractions were never particuarly long but he only took 3.5 hours from the first pain! Get to hospital Grin

bemybebe · 10/12/2011 16:36

I had a slightly different situation, i gave birth prematurely, but in my case i decided to go when i suddenly realized i had 6 every hour lasting 1-2 mins... the pain was developing from 20hr beforehand, but intensity was very mild, i was walking around, doing housework etc

MigratingChestnutsOnAnOpenFire · 10/12/2011 16:39

how's it going?

I remember having those contraction pretty much for a day before the bigguns kicked in.

How exciting Xmas Smile

planetpotty · 10/12/2011 16:44

Definitely ring - the MW will ask you questions and tell you whether or not it's time to go in. If you want to just go, they will tell you to go again if it's very early on. Keep walking about, if it's comfortable to - gravity Wink

So very excited for you! Smile

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 10/12/2011 16:48

OP I hope you're on your way by now :) For reasons still unknown to me, I ended up with a living room full of people when my babysitters for dd turned up when I was in labour, and it took all of them to convince me that, no, I didn't have time for a shower and I needed to go NOW. I only arrived at hospital an hour before ds made his entrance, I can't even imagine what would have happened if I'd stayed home.

Eglu · 10/12/2011 16:50

How exciting! Get to hospital, it could be ages or it could be soon. Always best to get checked out.

lljkk · 10/12/2011 16:50

MW told me you ring them & expect to be called in when the pain gets "toe curling".
4 labours later, I think that was good advice.

AntarcticEther · 10/12/2011 17:16

Rang . Need to call back when lasting more than 60 seconds or become to painful . Said frequency good but not stronger enough .

Thanks for the advise !

Your probably already on your way to hospital but I thought I would share my experience anyway.

With ds I had period pains for a few hours but dismissed them as they didn't feel painful enough. I decided to get checked when I had a show as it was quite watery and I wasn't sure what it was. I was 8cm.

I never had really unbearable contractions with any of my 3dc.

AntarcticEther · 11/12/2011 18:29

Well my daughter was born last night, however it wasn't the birth I was imagining , and I am so grateful I got strapped to a monitor otherwise I would not have her with me .

Her heart rate dipped then tailed off , and the next thing I knew I was surrounded by people , being stripped and rushed to theater . They didn't have time to give me a spinal, so knocked me out . She had the cord around her neck. I can't stop replying the look on my husbands face as I got whisked away . I thought she was dead . But she isn't .

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/12/2011 18:39

Congratulations!! Hope you recover quickly from your difficult time. Enjoy your family Christmas.

bemybebe · 11/12/2011 18:49

How are you both doing now? Apart from the shock how do you feel? And how is dd?

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 11/12/2011 18:52

Thank goodness you went in when you did. Congratulations, and be kind to yourself. A very similar thing happened to a friend of mine and the shock hit her a few days later. Make sure you take all the support you need.

mumatron · 11/12/2011 18:53

Wow, that must have been such an awful experience. I am so glad your both ok.

How are you feeling now?
