Going into labour - always in the early hours?

Have noticed that most people seem to go into labour in the early hours of the morning. They've woken early with pain or waters breaking etc. Is this always the case or has anyone's labour actually kicked off during more socialble hours?

none of mine were in the early hours, dd1 labour started around 3pm ish, she was born 8.35pm, dd2 labour started again 3pm ish, she was born 5.20pm. interestingly though, with both i had pains all night long the night before they were born, but nothing all day until it all started in the afternoon.

Three times I've given birth during the early hours (12 midnightish to 2am ish) after labours starting around 9-10pm. My dd1 was born at a more sociable 10pm (induced though).

first two were early hours - first one I woke at about 3am and my waters broke, and second one I woke at about 4.30am with a contraction, so I was expecting the same with ds3 - and started labour at 1.30pm just after dropping ds1 from teh nursery to the childminder! So you never know!

With the 1st and last my waters broke at 1am. with my 2nd contractions started at 4pm and by 9 had had an emergency section due to breech.
All very exciting when you wake up at 1am and your waters break all over the bed, floor, hall, bathroom etc!!

I went into labour at 1am..At our parent craft class they made us aware of this fact and explained that the majority of people going into labour during the night as it's when your body is usually at it's most relaxed and when you are chilled out ie sleeping (well.... what sleep you can get when the size of a whale!)

Not sure how true it is but in my case it was.

the period type pains started at around 6pm although they weren't painful really just niggles so i didnt know what was happening i started getting contractions around 10.30pm but as dd is my 1st baby I was in compleate denial and stayed at home till 6am with v.painful regular contractions still telling myself it was a false labour lol oh how naieve! then I called labout ward they said come in now! was 7cm when i got there but pain was too much had an epidural which slowed things down dd was born at 13.49 (whoops sorry I've gone on too much, don't really get chance to tell the story much lol )
