Going into labour - always in the early hours?

Have noticed that most people seem to go into labour in the early hours of the morning. They've woken early with pain or waters breaking etc. Is this always the case or has anyone's labour actually kicked off during more socialble hours?

1st. Began around 7pm. Born at 3am.
2nd. Began when my mum left. 1pm - ended two or three days later. (Bit of a blur)
3rd. Began 1pm-ish (when kids were at pre-school) and ended 4pmish.
4th Began 8pm (when dh was putting kids to bed) and ended 1am.

It was nearly always a good time. I think there was an element of my body feeling it was a good, safe time to get going.

I went into labour at 10pm following a very late tour of the hospital as we kept forgetting to book on to one! Mind you that was on the Weds and I didn't pop until Sat morning! Have ordered a much quicker one this time around!!

DS2 was induced so doesn't count, but DS1 and DD both woke me up at about 1.30am although they eventually emerged at different times! (DS1 6.30pm and DD 9.00am)

Waters broke 1.30am whilst reading Harry Potter. Dd1 born at 2.15pm following afternoon ... and I got to finish the book 18 months later !

MW also told me about the animal instinct of going into labour in the dark for safety. I was also told that generally women go into labour around a full moon too. Interesting, as I wasn't far out.

1st - 3.15 am.

2nd - was induced at 9.30am and labour gradually started that afternoon.

However despite first two labours being different they were born within a minute of each other! ds1 at 04.21am and dd at 04.20am!

3rd time waters broke about teatime and contractions started early evening. ds2 born 08.19am.

Tillyboo - I've heard the full moon theory too. There's one this weekend so it'll be interesting to see if there's a rush of births (hopefully to include me!)

yep, three times, although the third time I didn't know I was in labour - does that count? It was an elective section, was told I was in labour in the morning.

None of my labours started in the early hours, although my waters did break (with DS1) at about 7 a.m. Didn't start having contractions until the early afternoon though.

DS2 - waters broke 4.30 pm, contractions started about 6 pm, he was born at 8.15 p.m.

DS3 - started having contractions late morning, he was born at 9.17 p.mm.
