Ha!!! bitter laugh What a crock of shite.

localcrackpot · 29/11/2011 04:51

Sleazy old weird French guy with creepy ideas. Giving birth is like cutting off a limb with table cutlery.

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 29/11/2011 10:45

My friends sister did Grin

notcitrus · 29/11/2011 10:48

My mother-in-law did with number 2 of four.
I really wish I hadn't heard the rest of the details...

Mine had some good moments but then SPD pain took over followed by epidural.

graceinabundance · 29/11/2011 10:58

lol

good moments? I only had pain pain pain

good moments as in? (being nosey not being mean , genuinely curious)

the only vaguely pleasant moments involved gas and air, epidural and then holding them afterwards and all the horrid pain was over

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 29/11/2011 13:05

If you read up on it you can see how it is possible, but almost never in the circumstances and environments in which the majority of women give birth.

I have a bloody great birth. Nothing orgasmic about it but I enjoyed every single moment and had no pain relief. The birth felt good at all times. It is why I can see how it could be possible.

MotherPanda · 29/11/2011 13:09

it just seems a bit wrong to me.

yes, i remember shouting out that 'it hurts!' and just the brilliant overwhelming feeling of relief once it was over!

Is this for people who are into S&M? That would make sense...

I've heard about it but it just makes me think 'How?'. Most women can't climax during sex without clitoral stimulation so how on earth do you orgasm pushing a baby out? It's not like it's rubbing on your g-spot!

LemonEmmaP · 29/11/2011 13:32

I did - or at least I'm pretty sure I did! I recall being told to stop pushing as the head crowned, which I did and the midwife suggested I touched the baby's head - it felt all crinkly! Then I had another contraction and pushed, and as my baby came out, I felt that familiar tingle. It wasn't a full on 'When Harry Met Sally' thrasher - more of a slightly flat effort, hence why I say I think it happened, but I certainly recall being taken somewhat by surprise by it. It wasn't until a bit later that I really thought what had happened (had never heard of the idea previously) so again that makes me doubt myself, but I truly believe that it did happen to me.

Matronalia · 29/11/2011 15:15

I did too. Took part in a university dissertation on it with a few other women who also had. Have a copy of the dissertation floating around somewhere I can email if anyone is interested.

It was a very relaxed and relatively painless (though long) homebirth.

redheadbedhead · 29/11/2011 15:21

i hope it is possible, I'm due in 2 months and I want one!! Grin

graceinabundance · 29/11/2011 17:36

When I'd just given birth to my DS ( long horrible labour, rotation forecps etc etc) the midwife looking after us on nights and I were putting the world to rights..................... She said that some mums find contractions orgasmic, especially when the contractions peak.
Hmmm...not my experience!!!

Wolfiefan · 01/12/2011 20:11

Well I suppose it takes your breath away! :o

LegsAkimboTimeToBlush · 01/12/2011 20:26

I enjoyed my contractions with dc3.

LegsAkimboTimeToBlush · 01/12/2011 20:30

Matron can I have copy also?
If you wouldn't mind forwarding it through PM.
Thank you.

Matronalia · 01/12/2011 22:04

PMed you Legs.

Happy to send it to anyone else who wants it, just PM email address to me. Its a big PDF file and I don't think it can be sent through PM (unless I am really tired and stupid)

reallytired · 02/12/2011 14:22

I experienced feelings of elation when dd was born and although I did experience pain during transition, I found the crowning was not painful. I would not describe as an orgasm though, it was a completely different sensation.

I think the key is being relaxed and allowing your body to decide when to push. ie. the mother breathes the baby out. Hynotheraphy definately helps with this. The vagina has time to stretch and doesn't get injured. It is the tearing of flesh that makes crowning excruitating painful.
