ate her own placenta????????

Fuck me.

BOAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, can't imagine why they didn't just sort it out there and then. It'd been such an improvement on her previous birth too, where she'd been almost 'detained' at hospital and made to give birth there.

Sorry for making you barf Jacks, they did very strange things in Manchester's hippy community in the 80s!! Although the from the sounds of it she missed a trick not doing the placenta prints thing and then eating it Grin.

Hugh Fernley Whittingstall (sp?) went to a placenta pate party a few years ago didn't he.

I'm a bit Hmm about the whole thing. People say 'but animals eat their placenta' and, whilst I'm all for nature's wisdom, surely that has a lot to do with not attracting predators.

Leaving the birth pool up? Ewwww. DD2 was born at 6:30 am, the midwife didn't leave until about 9:30 and by 11:30 DH had been to the tip with the birth pool liner, etc.

You can have someone come to your house and chop up your placenta and put it into capsules for you to take like vitamin supplements. Very good source of iron, apparently.

Awayinamangercooper · 14/11/2011 09:07

in case anyone is interested

VivaLeBeaver · 14/11/2011 09:15

I know someone who had an unplanned home birth and totally wrecked their brand new hall carpet. Insurance wouldn't pay out as they said it wasn't an accident. Hmm

TheProvincialLady · 14/11/2011 19:10

Just imagine havingon the census, your marriage/death/children's birth certificates etc, under the Occupation heading, "placenta butcher" or maybe "placenta processer", or perhaps "afterbirth nutrition agent."

PinkFondantFancy · 14/11/2011 21:53

My MW said that sometimes people take a 10p size piece

PinkFondantFancy · 14/11/2011 21:54

Of their placenta and blend it into a fruit smoothie at breakfast after the birth..... Bleugh!!!

Jacksmania · 14/11/2011 22:58
