Am 38+4 been contracting mildly on and off since Wednesday. Daytimes are mainly bearable but at night things crank up a notch. Currently trying to rest just taken 2 paracetamol they haven't helped yet. Contractions are sort of regular but I haven't really been timing them as they just fizzle out after a few hours.
Anyone else I can pass the time chatting to or compare notes? Have heard this can go on for weeks (great)

Heartiest congratulations TinyDiamond, hope you feel better about things soon and enjoy your early days with your new DD. Smile

Bumpity bump, think my waters started leaking this evening!
Will post any updates. Grin

hhg · 20/08/2011 14:18

I'm 40 + 5 today, impatient, frustrated, bored. Want to avoid induction if possible. Had one sweep already and hasn't really done anything. Having a curry tonight. Good Luck everyone x

Gumps · 21/08/2011 13:52

Still here too. So fed up. Pains off and on but never amount to much. Had had ds2 by now...
Sausage hope you are on your way.

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 21/08/2011 22:01

Still here also! MW thinks it wasn't my waters.

But but but! Lost mucous plug today, looks like soon i will really actually have a real actual baby!

MonkeeMummy · 23/08/2011 07:15

Rather a belated post... congratulations tinydiamond and I hope you're starting to feeling better after your traumatic delivery.
Our little daughter turned up on the Tues 16th (her due date!) after an unexpectedly long and tiring labour. We did get a hospital waterbirth and she was worth every second (and there were a lot of them) of pain. Best wishes to everyone else waiting for their babies.

Gumps · 23/08/2011 19:03

Oh no monkeemummy not a story I want to hear! I thought 3rd labour were thought to be nice and quick? Glad all is well with your dd and congratulations.
STILL nothing here. Been bouncing on the ball like a maniac...

MonkeeMummy · 25/08/2011 09:49

Crossing my fingers for a speedy labour for you Gumps. I'm still not sure whether it was everyone telling me that third labours were unpredictable that created my stop/start labour. I felt really tense going into labour this time and usually I feel relaxed. Keep us posted and take care.

Hello everyone - it's so uncomfortable isn't it?!

I'm 38+1 and can't get comfy at night, waking up with aching hips, back and knees stay until the evening then it's bed time again and the aches return! Trying to stay sleeping on my left side as I've heard it's best for baby but that is making me ache - desperate to sleep on my back or front again when baby is out!

I've been having some odd feelings which I think might be contractions or BH, but soooooo not sure as first baby, there isn't pain but it feels a bit like an 'outer body experience' where something just takes over for a few seconds and then subsides. I've been getting these at night sporadically for a few weeks now, no real pattern but a few more lately, and my heart beats faster until it's over.

Good luck to everyone and hope you all manage to stay as comfortable as possible until the time comes.

Gumps · 27/08/2011 22:54

Still here. Think I will be pregnant for ever. I am only 38+1 though.
Tough time at consultant who wanted to do c section at 39 (previous shoulder dystocia) I said no. He said ok I'll support a natural birth but won't let you go past 40 weeks, only allowed to labour for 6 hours and theatre on stand by. Baby also back to back so he suggests an early epidural.
Flitting between tears, acceptance, frustration and guilt at just not taking the c section. If only baby would listen to my pleas and just come out!

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 30/08/2011 02:26

Bit of a late update for you all, DS was born on 25/08/11!

Contractions started at 7am, hospital at 3pm and he arrived in birthing pool at 5.05pm!

Hope this offers a little encouragement, there really is light at the end of the tunnel.

Gumps · 30/08/2011 04:03

Congratulations Sausage. Sounds like the birth was ok for you. Scanning back through the thread it was a good few weeks from when you had first twinges to giving birth.
Anyone reading this in hope of labour can only learnt to be patient!

vvviola · 31/08/2011 21:30

Our little girl finally arrived on Monday night - after what felt like an eternity of waiting and symptom checking.

In the end, i went into a regular appointment to be told I'd be induced on my due date (size concerns). I was a bit upset at the idea - midwife offered to do an exam just to see what sort of induction would need to be done... and discovered I was 6cm dilated already!!! Got to 8cm without any regular contractions (there was no way they were letting me home!)
Was brought up to be monitored at 6pm. 8cm at about 9pm. They broke my waters at about 9.30. Got to meet my new daughter before 10:30!!

So quite a surprise & quite speedy in the end despite all the waiting.

Gumps · 01/09/2011 20:08

Brilliant that is the kind of birth story i like! Congratulations and well done on your new arrival. Again 9th August wa your first post so quite a long wait, nearly a month in fact!
Still here. Contractions on and off since sweep on Tuesday. Had lots of show but still nothing too exciting happening. Dh thrilled that it is now a September baby. I thought dc would def be here by now :(

pugh · 02/09/2011 16:35

Hi gumps.looks like we are in the same boat.t+4 and also had a sweep on Tuesday.lots of 'twinges' up to a minute long and so uncomfy. Also had a show y'dsy&today (sorry if tmi) but nothing establishing...

Grr!

KateBC · 03/09/2011 15:41

Congratulations to everyone whose has their babies Smile

I'm 38 weeks with number two and starting to get really fed up with the amount of false starts and teasers I've been getting. Been having mild contractions on an off for about 5 days now, bit they last just long enough for me to feel like something is going to happen, then fade away Angry

Also find that I'm concentrating so hard on every little twinge that I can't remember what my stomach normally feels like!
