Elcs is Friday. I cant eat from midnight thurs and no drinks from 6am. I don't know when on fri my elcs will be so may have a long wait without food.

What goodies shall I pack for when I'm allowed to eat?
The scabby plastic cold white toast was no where near enough after ds! Grin

Taste the difference Sainsburys cookies. An addiction for life!

NumptyMum · 19/04/2011 21:12

Actually I really, really wanted the 'traditional' tea and toast, only to learn when having DC2 that toast was no longer allowed due to health and safety Hmm so a midwife can deliver a baby, but not make toast.

Flapjack?

Just me obsessed with food then? Blush

It was jelly babies last time. Thunk it had something to do with having such a dry mouth after the g&a and nit being allowed to eat or drink after the epidural/ spinal/ emcs!

I would have eaten a scabby horse to be honest after my EMCS as it was over 24 hours since eating my last meal when they gave me the all clear to eat again.

SomethingSuper · 20/04/2011 08:13

After an almost 3 day induction and labour, I was starving and would have loved a big load of cheese sandwiches. Instead I got 2 rounds of cold toast and jam. I now cannot eat toast with jam, the thought of it turns my stomach. Take loads of sandwhiches and non-fizzy drinks.

chimchar · 20/04/2011 08:18

i had pate on toast and a big wedge of choccie cake, all provided my my lovely mum. Smile

good luck for fri!

Francagoestohollywood · 20/04/2011 08:23

Ds was born in Italy in the summer, and for dinner I had parma ham with melon. I had craved parma ham for 9 months.

theborrower · 20/04/2011 21:08

Before I had my DD, my mum kept going on about the tea and toast you get afterwards as being the best thing ever. I don't remember getting any :( I had an EMCS - DD was only found to be breech after I turned up at hospital in labour - so I had my labour bag filled with cereal bars, chocolate, apple juice etc that I thought I would eat in labour, not during the stay afterwards! Glad I had it though - I did love the apple juice, and the ward was feckin' roasting so it went down a treat. The chocolate was good too :)

Parietal · 20/04/2011 21:17

Since DD was born a few weeks ago I've lived on toast&pate and ambrosia rice pudding. Though I didn't take either into hospital.

cardamomginger · 20/04/2011 23:50

had chicken liver pate. would have killed for sushi. or a very rare steak. mmmmm.....

Morebounceperounce · 21/04/2011 10:38

Kitkats. Luckily had a multipack and caned them overnight (9pm birth) with lots of super hot sugery tea, watching DH and DD sleep. While I know Nestle are bad, for that night, Kitkats were the only thing that would do.

Whatevs · 21/04/2011 10:43

I was absolutely Hank Marvin after both my sections. I wanted tea and toast.
I also appreciated good quality chocolate-coated biscuits (mmm), and sent my DH out for nice sarnies, posh crisps and a good cup of tea from a local cafe, not the crap brew they serve in hospitals.

GnomeDePlume · 21/04/2011 10:46

DH brought in a really delicious pate sandwich for me as the hospital food was diabolical. That was more than 10 years ago and I still remember it!

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 21/04/2011 10:59

I just wanted a hot cup of tea and toast with real butter.

LaWeasel · 21/04/2011 11:03

Right afterwards - nothing.

A bit later, fruit and stodgey meals and puddings.

Chynah · 21/04/2011 14:36

Fruit&Nut almost exclusively for the next two days!!

dexifehatz · 21/04/2011 14:55

Brie,brie and even more brie!!!

peanutbutterontoast · 21/04/2011 15:53

sushi

WidowWadman · 22/04/2011 07:18

"that toast was no longer allowed due to health and safety hmm so a midwife can deliver a baby, but not make toast."

Strange - last time I've been admitted to hospital a midwife made me toast, because I hadn't eaten all morning and that was only a few weeks ago.

MW assured me that it would take hours for my appetite to return after ELCS, and was even more adamant after I had lots of low blood pressure medication during the op. I think it was about 20 mins before I was begging for food, and lovely MW raided the kitchen for a pack of sarnies, biscuits and fruit, which was lovely.

After that, I basically lived on dried fruit for two days, due to fear of painful poo! (3rd degree tear with first delivery - apparently birth and fear of pooing are inextricably linked in my mind!).

MollysChambers · 24/04/2011 09:54

Snickers bars. Never eat them normally.

heather1980 · 24/04/2011 10:04

coke, all i wanted after ds2 was a really cold fizzy coke and it took 3 days of hints before i got one!

HipHopOpotomus · 24/04/2011 20:02

I'm going shopping this week for forbidden cheese, pate and some posh crackers to have to hand for my post birth munch. Will have grApes too!

Iggly · 24/04/2011 20:04

Anything! I ended up in hospital and the nurses could only rustle up toast and cornflakes after I begged (had DS at home, came in immediately after started PPH)

RhinestoneCowgirl · 24/04/2011 20:07

I'm ashamed to say that I sent my poor mother (who had been up all night) out for pizza when DS was born. Generally tho, I think just vast quantities of nice things as I was starving both times.
