My first was born to the sounds of the Hives then when I had tea and toast and a cuddle Glenn Millar came on. I think music realy helped me through the pain.

What is on your list (if you have one, I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea)?

Did any particular song help you through?

'indescribable' by Chris Tomlin. A most beautiful experience that moves me when i remember it. I was so blessed with an ideal water birth with no intervention at all... with just my husband and 1 brilliant midwife...

Pick your favourite songs & see how you feel on the day, sod what other people would choose
Adopt a desert island discs mentality, then remember the radio/ player/ batteries/ charger.

In labour its important you're relaxed and focused so if music helps go for it. I was 100% convinced that my love of music would result in the need for my tunes but..

My labours were fast 5hr, then #2 1.5 hours & on the day music was the very last thing on my mind Blush

Ds2 6 months likes Reggae lots now though Wink

DD was born to the song 'greatest day' by take that [secret take that fan emoticon] . It felt really appropropriate and I still listen to the song and thing back to when she was born (well, it was only 3 weeks ago Wink ).

I had an ELCS and was told I could bring in my own music. DH and I could only think of inappropriate song choices (born to be wild, monster etc...!) so said we'd just go with the random selection on the theatre's ipod which was mainly cheesy pop. The only song I asked them to skip was when "bob the builder" came on. I was having DS2 and would be hearing quite enough of that in the future!

My friend had to listen to "The long and winding road" 27 times during her labour as her DH was adamant that should be playing when the baby was born... she can't listen to it ever again!

I had stuff that personally made me happy - whatever that was, rock, classical etc (I had a very playlist!)

There's also an amazing song by Ben Folds (can't remember name) which is very appropriate, I'll have to ask DP what the name is!

"My friend had to listen to "The long and winding road" 27 times during her labour as her DH was adamant that should be playing when the baby was born... she can't listen to it ever again!" LOL

I spent ages making 'Labour relax' and 'Labour energetic' playlists. In the end, I had an EMCS when I got to hospital, so we listened to what the surgeons had on - The Doors. "Riders on the Storm" was on when she was delivered. Nice and chilled out, I have to say...
