Woke up this morning screaming in pain..! WHT

Okay I'm due on Thursday..and this morning I woke up at 4.30 with the most horrid lower tummy pain..which was period like and lasted about 30 odd sec and then stopped. It was sore as it woke me up, but nothing to bad. So I went back to sleep..

Then at 7.18 I woke up screaming in pain Shock..it was like nothing I've even felt before, right across my whole lower body and I felt very sick. It was really quite heinous pain really deep. The main pain pasted after about 30 / 40 secs however my back still ached for a good 2 mins afterwards. And then relief, thank god as it was extremely unpleasant!

I'm feeling fine..and had nothing since! Confused

Now I'm sure I might be grabbing at straws, but is this things getting started, what the heck is happening!

Any advice would be great, haven't been feeling myself for a few days, but hey I'm nearly 40 weeks who does at this stage..Grin

Should mention I've not had any BH at all.

Sounds like contractions to me Smile.

Might be the start of something. I woke up contracting with DS3, couldn't figure out why I was awake so went to the loo and back to bed. That was when I found out what had woken me!

How far along are you?

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 12:19

Hi Milngavie I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday. Really contractions..but they were so far apart..? This is our first baby so naturally I'm on tender hooks..waiting Grin

Having small period like pains now, feels like I'm about the come on. If that makes sense.

Don't know but if I had pains that severe I think I might give the midwife a call just to make sure.

Hopefully someone can come on and be more helpful soon.

TooImmature2BMum · 20/02/2011 13:40

I can't be more helpful, but I just wanted to wish you well! It does sound like something is starting to happen, so best of luck!

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 15:42

Thank you everyone...oh lordy lord! Had a few small pains but nothing major at all. Haven't had anything like the same level of pain this morning.

DH and I have been for a walk, and I'm feeling fine.

Haven't called the MW yet, but will play it by ear and so what happens. Baby being quite active at the moment, so clearly 'it's' happy!!

Keep a careful eye on it and call the midwife if anything changes. Some people get a long way in to labour without too much obvious contracting. HAve you had a show at all?

Milngavie · 20/02/2011 15:49

If you get the sudden pain again definately phone just so they are aware.

It does sound like your body preparing for labour though Smile.

Having typed that I know I'll be proved wrong Grin.

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 15:52

Well I think I might of had a show last weekend..but now I'm not so sure as it wasn't that clear as it was brown based not pink. [embarrassed] Told my GP and MW anyway.

Currently sitting on the sofa with my feet up and a mug of yummy soup Smile as it's cold and a Brew wasn't cutting it.

Try and keep active too. If you feel like scrubbing the kitchen floor that would be a good idea - good position for getting baby in a good position. If the pain comes with actual bleeding - ie not a blobby type stained show thing - then go straight to A&E/

What about tomorrow? How far away does dh/p work? (Speaking as someone who had a show and contractions with dd2 (at a week overdue) and said to dh 'oh no this isn't it, this is the pizza from last night (pepperoni)' So he went to work 45 minutes drive away and had just got there when I realised I was contracting big time and had to get him back. He got home just after 10am and dd2 arrived just before 2pm.)

Northernlurker · 20/02/2011 16:02

I don't mean A&E I mean delivery!

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 16:29

Not really sure if I can be assed to scrubbed the kitchen floor, did the bathroom yesterday! Might get the hoover out instead.

DH works 40 mins away, but I do have a friend who is near by if needed. I have a consultants appointment on Tuesday which we're both going too. DH has said he can if needed work from home this week..!

I don't even think the baby is engaged yet as bump is still high and I'm not walking like a duck....it's quite a long baby I know it's going to be quite a lump..well over 8 pounds!! Just hope it's head isn't to big..

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 20/02/2011 16:45

I never noticed when any of mine engaged tbh. Hoovering sounds good.
If nothing is happening later (no waters broken) then try and fit in some sex. Will relax both of you, may help nudge things along and if the baby comes tomorrow it may well be your last shag for a few weeks.

Imnotaslimjim · 20/02/2011 18:23

This happened to me with DC1, I panicked big time, rang the hospital screaming my head off and spent the day on the labour ward being monitored "just in case" of fetal distress.

I went home, was home for just 4 hours and things kicked off properly. My son was born the following morning :D

Keep active but don't push yourself, let delivery know so you're logged to be expected and eat well to build you're energy up, looks like you're going to need it

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 19:17

Imnotaslimjim oh my god really Shock...I'm now really scared. However we have re-packed bags this afternoon, might be worth printing out my birth plan.

Had a wee snooze earlier, so hoover is still under the stairs..whoops!

DH is cooking right now, corn feed roast chicken, with mash and peas and carrots for me..yummy.

Hi highland I had something similar - a very sharp pain that lasted for nearly a minute, very low down, after rolling over in bed. It happened two nights on the trot - and that was 2 weeks ago and I am still pg!!

I think a one off pain like that could be a bit of cramp or the baby getting in position and hitting a nerve or something. But I am no expert so if you are worried get yourself checked

What a lovely DH you have Wink!

Imnotaslimjim · 20/02/2011 20:20

sorry, didn't mean to scare you. What I meant was the day in hospital was pointless, we had no issues, they just wanted to be on the safe side incase the heavy pain was because there was an issue and because I was panicking. What they didn't realise is I have a nervous disposition anyway and couldn't handle the lack of control. I finally insisted that I was allowed home and was only there for 4 hours before I went back for better pain relief lol. My DS arrived safely 12 hours later

You're DH sounds lovely. If you're not feeling up to the hoovering, don't. Now is the time to be resting up if you feel you need it, fingers crossed baby arrives soon

Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 20:55

Hi Imnotaslimjim hahaha no I'm a very nervous person..I hate not being in control esp of my body! Grin

Spoken to my step-mother who is a nurse and had 4 children..yes I had contractions this morning, so with a few days I'll be a Mama. She said days rather than weeks, so it might mean mimi turns up rather on time..!

Yes DH is quite lovely if I do say so Smile he's been amazing esp as I had a total melt down last night, floods of tears the works Blush Blush Bloody sodding hormones!!

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 20/02/2011 22:18

Floods of tears last night? You should have said so before - that's a cast iron symptom of impending labour in my book! Grin

Definately time for some nice cosy shagging with your lovely dh!

Imnotaslimjim · 20/02/2011 22:28

Agree with Northern, thats the hormone rush that shows labour is imminent. Have you got the urge to clean out the cupboards yet? lol

Just keep reminding yourself that millions of women have done it before you, and that there is a reason for it. Within a few hours of the bad pain starting, you will have your beautiful DC in your arms

greasychip · 20/02/2011 22:34

Oooooh how exciting!!
Keep us posted Highlandgirl
Best of luck- its the best day of your life [sob] Grin

nailak · 20/02/2011 22:35

do you know the position of your baby#? the back pain may be due to it being in back to back position, if this happens contractions may be less clear and pain will be a lot in your back. tens machine helps

Highlandgirl · 21/02/2011 08:46

Morning...

I wrote a big bit to you all last night and then like a total mong I deleted it. Bugger, dam and blast!

Feeling quite disappointed this morning, nothing has happened..a few lower back pains and general aches but booooo come on baby! Whist I wasn't really looking forward childbirth I was looking forward to getting on with this and becoming a Mama. On the plus side I did have a good nights sleep so at least I'm well rested.

Imnotaslimjim not a huge cleaner but I do like things tidy, but yes there is a cupboard which is calling my name...I'm on the 4th load of washing on within the last 24hrs!

It's my birthday this week, I wonder If I'll get an extra special pressie this year..??Hmm or will I still be a grumpy HG who feels like a whale but is yet to waddle.

awww good luck! my first baby was born on my birthday, it's so special to share your bday with your baby Smile though it wasn't the best birthday I've ever had, we've had some great ones since!

Highlandgirl · 21/02/2011 10:03

Being totally vain it would be great if it could arrive before my birthday...happy to share just would be nice to be a 'year' younger when it's born...wishful thinking. Wink
