I didn't think I did, but apparently I did (a little bit). It was dealt with very discreetly, and certainly no one mentioned it at the time.

PukeyMummy · 16/02/2011 10:29

Not as far as I know! Was convinced I would because I ate a massive bowl of pasta when the contractions started and thought it would have to come out.

During labour I really felt like doing one (well, let's face it, giving birth feels like "shitting a melon" anyway) so kept sitting on the toilet to push, but nothing came out.

I was on the bed pushing (for 3 hours...), but DH didn't notice and I certainly didn't.

mousymouse · 16/02/2011 10:32

yet both times. any puking simultaniously

debka · 16/02/2011 11:06

No with DD1, but the most enormous pile of crap which just kept coming with DD2. DH said blood, sick, urine and screaming were ok, but the huge steaming horsepoo nearly finished him off. I felt better after I did it though!

Pinkjenny · 16/02/2011 11:08

I did. On the floor. Not my finest hour. The midwife expertly whipped it away in double quick time.

Paula30CWR · 16/02/2011 11:18

Oh my god! At last someone mention this.

I come from Argentina where all women are asked to poo before delivery and here they don't tell you hahahahaa! Hilarious! Another attractive thing about being pregnant, isn't it?
I'm due next week and I was wondering...Should I poo? Oh well, if we poo ourselves, I think we just need to deal with it...after all, let's think - what an effort to bring a baby to the world eh?

nowit · 16/02/2011 11:43

DC 1 No
DC 2 Home birth in the bath, didn't realise I did until after when I handed baby over to DH as I was delivering the placenta, MW had drained the bath and I put my hand back into my own poo Blush Horrible and what's worse is the MW passed me one of my lovely new cotton towels to wipe it with, needless to say the towel had to go and DH refused to have a bath in there again Grin

DC 3 no (thank god)

Rhian82 · 16/02/2011 11:46

No, I didn't!

rudbekia · 16/02/2011 13:23

nope - my body decided on a good clear out at about 5cm dilated so I was sat on the loo, supported by DH, contracting and pooing away! Then the throwing up started....sigh...wasn't expecting that but MW said its very common Hmm

from what I've heard it happens lots, is expected, and you really shouldn't worry about it! (and most probably you wont care by that point anyway Wink)

ZainesMum · 16/02/2011 14:11

I did lol the midwife told me i didnt so with my next contraction i screamed at her "dont lie to me" so she told me haha

moogalicious · 16/02/2011 14:16

dc1 no, had a clear out as labour began
dc2 maybe, again I went in the early stages but afterwards as I reached out to touch the babys head the mw said be careful there's some poo there!
dc3 yes, was really constipated so couldn't go before Blush

WriterofDreams · 16/02/2011 15:31

Yup, I pooed, DS pooed (meconium in the waters) DH said the place stank! I didn't notice TG. What annoyed me though was that the MW in our antenatal classes said that no one poos in labour. Why lie about it? She also wouldn't show us the forceps which IMO is really not the best way to allay someone's fears. I was pretty scathing in my feedback form!

Paula30CWR · 16/02/2011 16:51

I was told the same at the antenatal...no one poos...that used to happen in the past she said...what a liar!

warthog · 16/02/2011 16:51

yes with no. 1, no with no. 2

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2011 16:57

I'm not actually sure.....

With DC1 I was out of my box on pethidine, so haven't the foggiest.

DC2 was an emcs, so I imagine not!

During DC3's speedy arrival I remember feeling the urge, and the MW had a piece of paper towel hovering, but I can't remember if it was actually needed; I was far too busy pushing out something altogether larger.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 16/02/2011 16:59

No, and I would have noticed (was on my hands and knees so would have noticed anything dropping down before the DCs came out!)

mejon · 16/02/2011 17:26

Not with DD1 but most definitely with DD2. I was induced 2nd time around and after getting the second lot of gel inserted 'things' started to happen very quickly so I didn't get a chance to empty my bowels beforehand. Threw up both times too - a lot with DD2. Ah the glamour....

rain1014 · 16/02/2011 23:23

I asked for an enema with both to insure I didnt, its in my birth plan again this time.

I did however throw up everywhere , 1 second after saying Im sure I will be ok when they offered the sick bowl!!

justhalfwaythere · 16/02/2011 23:30

NO NO NO NO NO
and that's five natural births.

But did have a complete 'clean out' naturally at the start of labour each time.

Clucky31 · 17/02/2011 12:21

What about repeated attacks of wind - does that happen as well? Grin

pinkclouds · 17/02/2011 12:39

Ladies this has made my morning GrinGrin I was lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself with MS at 16+4 weeks. You lot have cheered me up so much, the dignity of child birth its great GrinGrin

This is My fourth, DD can't remember. DS1 didn't, DS2 I think I think I may have, I do remember being in the birthing pool and trying to push him out in a sort of all fours position and the midwife's made me turn round cause I was pushing my Anus out and they thought it wouldn't go back {grin]Grin What's that all about?? It's fine now and was never mentioned again.Shock

RMCW · 17/02/2011 12:43

2 dc.

No poo.

Really wouldnt have cared if I had though Hmm

Was a bit busy! Grin

piprabbit · 17/02/2011 12:52

Probably - I suspect I did.
But the MW didn't mention it and DH denies all knowledge.

TBH I don't remember any smells, and very few sounds from the pushing phase of labour - I suspect my poor nerves were so overwhelmed that they gave up trying to process an extra stuff.

Cuntyoldclothcatpuss · 17/02/2011 12:55

I have no idea, because I enter 'the zone' when I'm in labour, my brain switches off and I remember practically nothing. I do think that the midwives are actually trained to say 'no you didn't though, just to make us feel better!

DownyEmerald · 17/02/2011 13:01

Yes, midwife on sieve duty (water birth).
