Hi ladies,

Is anyone else experiencing a really long wait for DLA? Our form was scanned 8/5/2024 and I was told 15 weeks at that point. I've now been told 20 weeks. Is this normal?

Sounds about right, we waited close to 20 weeks

Temporaryname158 · 17/08/2024 19:37

I can’t remember exactly when I sent it but I was certainly months ago! I got a letter stating they had received it, and another holding letter but no decision!

Strictlymad · 17/08/2024 19:47

Ours was scanned in April and nothing yet! 16 weeks is Monday coming for us so I dunno whether to call

ScoobyBooby · 17/08/2024 20:13

Just gone 17 weeks for us p
I got a letter last week to say they still haven’t made a decision and could be another 15 weeks!

IntrepidCat · 17/08/2024 20:15

On the DLA Facebook group, 20+ weeks seems normal right now.

Anyone had experience of DLA sending a letter to the school after the forms have been submitted. 20 weeks on Friday and the school still hasn’t received the forms to write the report.

was dealing with the claim rang the school and nursery to discuss the care details

I wish they did that with me. I think I’ll be looking at about 22 weeks at this rate. Did it help in your case? X

Yeah it did with my youngest son he was born with complex needs and trying to explain his daily care needs is difficult it’s easier to discuss with someone so they spoke with me on the phone was a lovely man and then he confirmed he verified what I was saying with nursery even told me his decision on the phone I know it takes for ever it’s really annoying waiting but hang on in there longest I’ve waited was 28 weeks coc for the mobility side my son is a wheelchair user xx maybe you would ring dla and see if you gave details for
school could The decision maker ring might help? Looks like it just depends who’s desk it falls on really think they should be staying consistent for everyone good luck xx

Awww bless you. I think in this case, it’s because she was at nursery when I applied, but now she’s in reception. I called earlier to tell them that she’s now potty trained since I applied and asked if they could email the school instead as they’ve not received the forms yet and she was having none of it. She didn’t give a toss really. I’m just getting more anxious now. School, like nursery have said they have noticed something and the senco was involved in the first weeks of her being at school, but she’s worse at home and not left the school premises with them yet to show her lack of road safety or had PE to show she needs help dressing. Plus her baby sister isn’t there to attack!

Awww love him. I’m staying positive that it’s not a straight no. I’ve given lots of information and a bit of information, but the SALT and nursery report were quite vague. No diagnosis yet. I hope what school say is enough. Thank you x

MrsW12 · 05/11/2024 14:41

Are the renewal forms the same as the original ones?

MrsW12 · 05/11/2024 19:55

I remember now that I called and told them that the teacher had said some things at parents evening. I wonder if they are clarifying that
