Nuna Rebl fails ADAC test

I purchased a Nuna Rebl last year for my Son and became aware of the post on Nuna's Facebook page earlier today. Fortunately my retail has confirmed they are prepared to offer a refund or exchange if I wish but want to other families who have purchased this carseat know what has happened...

They told me I could exchange it and gave me a list of 6 car seats to choose from. They said they weren't doing any refunds. The problem is by the time they collect the car seat and send me a new one I will be stuck for days in a rural area with no car seat. I'm not on the mainland. Feeling so upset about this.

Chickpea that's awful I would try ringing again though and pushing the issue - I did hear one of the girls say that they would give a refund as a last resort though so worth another try? If you can get them to agree to it then you can order another car seat to arrive from elsewhere before they collect the rebl and refund?

I emailed them back and said I thought they were dishonest as they said they were only offering customers exchanges. I found them to be unhelpful and I wouldn't buy from them again. Eventually I was told I could get a refund and told to pack the car seat in a box so I'm off to hunt down a box now! Never again !!! Thanks for your help farmerswife and Rosie

We were offered an exchange from our independent retailer before nuna announced they would be doing refunds.. but now I don't want any seat they stock. My almost 3 year old will probably be getting close to the 18kg mark in the not too distant future so I want an erf to 25kg..

Anyone buy the axkid minikid or besafe izi plus?

I think we will now look at the CYBEX Sirona M2 i-Size, as it swivels and had a good rating. (1.0 very good 6 very bad) Ive translated the German attached.

I was going to get the cybex but my toddler is already 15 kg so went for the axkid minikid which will last until 25kg. I really wanted the besafe x2 as it has passed both safety tests I believe. When we tried another besafe model it was a tight squeeze in the front so the man said he might get the axkid in. It is tight thought and I have a Subaru Forester which isn't a small car! Even though I will miss the swivel I feel like the sides are quite low on the axkid so it's not to hard to get him in, also looks like he has a lot more room.

I have just been told by pram world that they aren't going to refund me and that I need to contact nuna. I have just bought a new car seat at over £250 gutted.

The new cybex isn't swivel unfortunately, I have a three door car so was excited that the new cybex is isize but they have changed it!

Ah, didn't realise that the new cybex didn't swivel, so now looking at the RECARO Zero.1 i-Size, anyone know anything about it?

I've just ordered the recado. Its a relatively new seat but It's the ONLY one with same spec as the Nuna (I did so much bloody research) and passes the German ADAC safety test with a 2.4 so miles better than the Nuna.
I need an Isofix/isize/swivel/extended rf (91st centile baby). Rang the recado helpline to check it fits in my car & the staff were very helpful & answered straight away - they say they only stock in independent retailers so not available in mothercare etc so I ordered from securatot!

Isofix and I-size seats aren't the best choice for a tall/heavy baby because they will be outgrown before they get to a safe age for using a high backed booster.

The 25kgs weight limit seatbelt-fitted seats are a better choice for children on the higher centiles.

Yes, I understand that & the Nuna was slightly better as it was to 19.5kg however I have a three door car & do not want to put him forward facing yet hence the swivel/isofix. I can't afford a new car & I want the safest seat for him now, so once he outgrows it I will look at another seat, forward facing, that fits our needs.

Planning more babies so hoping I'll get my monies worth out of it! Either way £400 for a car seat is ridiculous but i scrimp on other things to afford it

MrsZumba I swapped our Nuna for a Minikid at the weekend. Had a look at the izi Plus but it wasn't a good fit for the car, the front passenger seat had to be too far forward for someone to actually sit there so that knocked it off the list. DS isn't quite 2 yet and is skinny but tall, so I wanted a seat with a big shell to make sure it lasted until he's ready for a HBB.

The problem isn't the shell (always - there's a Maxi-Cosi which does have a shell issue). If the harness is only usable to 18kg it's often not large enough to contain a child who is taller than the average 4 year old even if they are well under the weight limit.

Nuna accepts, and here we quote 'ultimately, what matters is our customers' peace of mind. Therefore, we (Nuna) are offering full refunds to any customer that does not feel that the rigorous UK Government standards are sufficient. A refund can be obtained by contacting Nuna's customer service team Monday to Friday on 08009520061 between the hours of 9am to 5pm or emailing them directly at [email protected]'.

I emailed Nuna no response so I phoned they said they would refund still waiting to hear when they will collect the seat, starting to wonder if they will get back to me that was yesterday, fingers crossed

Diono have been in touch and asked us to post the following:

"We have seen that you have highlighted negative test results from the recent ADAC test for Radian 5. We'd like to provide some background information for this because when Radian 5 is used correctly it provides a high level of safety.

The predominant reason for the poor results is due to the complicated nature of the seat which is common amongst multi group child restraints. There are many parts to install because Radian 5 covers a large age range from birth to 7 years and has to keep very small babies safe as well as children 5 or 6 times the weight and size. Combination seats across various brands often get lower scores because of involved fitting and installation. This can increase the risk of a poor installation and therefore ADAC place a high importance on this. However for the consumer, buying 1 seat instead of 3 can be a massive benefit and Radian 5 is safe to use when installed correctly.

In a video of the ADAC test, Radian 5 can be seen with the 15-25kg harness pads installed the wrong way around which will negatively impact the results. This has further highlighted the importance of correct installation and as a result, we are reviewing all our instructions and support materials to minimise potential errors in fitting. Retailers of Radian 5 are also receiving additional training on installing the seat and we would always recommend with any car seat to get expert advice on fitting and car compatibility.

Hello, I know this is a very late post on the topic. I came across this thread and called Nuna team today. They are still offering a refund if you have proof of purchase. I do not have the proof of purchase so they have offered me a free upgrade to Nuna Rebl plus on condition that I have to return the older one (they offer the collection for that too).
Nuna Rebl plus has passed the ADAC tests.
