Isofix/fit base for size 1 seatbelt fit?

Hi
My dd is 6 months. I'm looking to buy a rear facing seat for 9 month+.
My car is a focus, 12 years old, so doesn't have isofix points.
I want an isofit style base (ie one which fits with seat belts but is like an isofix) for my new car seat.

Basically looking for recommendations!

Can't afford a new car unfortunately! But willing to spend on a good car seat, ideally a group 1+ to take her safely through a good few months.

Thanks.

Hi,

Is there any particular reason that you want a base? Most Group 1 seats don't have them, it's not like you can lift a toddler out of the car in their car seat like you can lift a baby in an infant carrier - a toddler is too heavy!

One that springs to mind is the Hauck Varioguard It has an ISOFIX base, but you can also secure the base with the seatbelt. The only drawback is that the seat can only be used rear facing until 13kgs if you belt the base in, if you use the ISOFIX it can go rear facing right up to 18kgs.

There are lots of good Group 1 seatbelted seats that don't have bases. Have a look on the Securatot website to get an idea of what is available. These seats will stay rear facing right up to 25kgs, so they are ideal if your child is on the upper centiles for height or weight.

Good point. It just states they're safer, that was all. Though of course a rear facing one with side impact would be priority iyswim. Smile

Thanks for the links I will have a look!

The Hauck is on offer in Tesco direct btw if anyone's looking. Smile

Isofix is not safer, it just reduces the chance of user error. There are some great seats out there that use just seat belts. Some of the seats have also passed the swedish plus takes which is an extra test that is difficult for some seats to pass.
Another website to look at is [[http://www.securatot.co.uk/ securatot]]
I would look at all the seats and how they fit into the car and draw up a list then go to a shop that stocks them and try them and see what fits. The safest seat in the world is no good if it does fit in your car.

Thanks.
This makes it a lot easier as I did want one that had passed that extra test and to fit a focus - and several seatbelt fixed ones do. Smile
