Bell tent - well, I've got one extra from my Holland expedition

As some of you might know, we went to Holland last weekend to buy my bell tent (a 4m with the zip-off groundsheet).

I got one extra (the 4m with separate groundsheet) to help share some of the travel costs, so if anyone's interested, just shout.

It's this Obelink one, the same as sold by Belltent UK.

You can have it at cost €195 plus £50 for diesel/tunnel costs, so should save you £70 - £80. (I'm obviously not making a profit, but as we were going there anyway, it would feel wrong to. )

CAT me if you're interested!

MisSalaneous sorry I didn't get back to you re the belltent, it was a matter of huge disagreement between DH and I! I'm glad it went to a good home.

MisSalLaneous · 09/05/2010 21:08

Ah, don't worry, honestly! Have you been able to persuade him yet? If not, could you go to a site and show him in real life? Dh liked them (a little bit) more after seeing them in person.

Have only just seen this, and am adding a quick story late in the day. Spent a week in a yurt when DD1 was a few months old, and fell in love with proper canvas then and there. Totally different to nylon! Cannot stress this enough. However, yurts are not really practical or affordable for us, so we have just taken delivery of a 5m bell tent (from belltentuk), with wood burner. (Just lit the first fire in it). Very exciting. Have also bought a huge traditional rug(eBay), and some flags/fairy lights etc. To decide between 4 and 5m, we drew out a 4m on the ground in the garden and worked out that for 4 of us plus all the gear, it would be a nightmare in wet weather. We do have a tarp and a little 2-man (which Miss 8 will have all to herself, bunting and all). This leaves me, DH and Miss 9Months to have the bell tent. (Closest we get to any privacy these days). We sold our nylon 4 man on eBay last week for really good money, so this was almost a straight financial swap. Cannot begin to say how pleased I am!!

Really enjoyed reading this thread.
Also saw that MisSal put link to how to pitch a bell tent from the bell tent website. Can i use these pitching instructions for a soulpad with ZIG or will it be slightly different...i'm figuring not b/c MisSal owns soulpad

MisSalLaneous · 23/07/2010 18:39

Hey poppyboo. We've got an Obelink, which is the same as the Belltent UK ones, but I don't think there is much difference in pitching. I would think you'll be fine with those instructions. Hope you have a fab time!

Matilda, your setup sounds fab! If you don't mind me asking, which rug did you buy?

sorry that was a bit thick of me considering the title of the thread...i think reading four pages confused me a bit LOL

MisSalLaneous · 23/07/2010 20:29

I talk so much rubbish, I confuse myself on occasion, lol.

MisSal- thanks for the Obelink address etc upthread- we went over and picked one up last weekend

...and frittered spent some of the money saved on one of those lovely awnings

there's not enough room in our garden to pitch it so we're risking a night in Kent next weekend for a Practice Run- two adults three kids and two dogs

am trying not to think about logistics too much now in case all my hair drops out by Friday

MisSalLaneous · 25/07/2010 22:35

Oh wow, SpringHeeledJack, how exciting! It's a fab place, isn't it?!

It'll be fine, we didn't do a practice pitch before we camped with it for the first time either, and had no problems. To be honest, putting up the awning took us the longest as we're a bit camping challenged.

it is fab Sal. Though it's probably the hottest shop I've ever been in and I reckon best visited in March rather than July

we're really doing a practice pitch because we're going to the Big Chill the weekend after and I need- for my peace of mind as I'm a bit twitchy about this sort of thing- to check it has all its bits and that we can all fit in it before we go!

as for the awning- it does look a bit complicated. Was planning on giving it a go tomorrow but might pass it on to the dcs as a team building/initiative type exercise

cackle

I like your thinking!
