Slubber - Dutch Pyramid tents (all hypothetical, of course!)

(Or anyone else, of course!)

First off, I suspect I will actually get a bell tent, as I love it and dh will humour me this far.

A pyramid appears to be one step too far for him, and he just laughs at me every time I show him that Guadeloupe which I love. (And I need him to help pay, so ignoring irrelevant input not really of much help here )

I'll keep my Cabanon / De Waard (a girl can dream) "but you've got incredibly expensive unnecessary electronics"-card for another couple of years. As our family grows - it's just us and ds at the moment - it might be more practical anyway.

But, but, but... We might be driving to Holland this weekend after all, and will be able to see tents in person. Soooo, I'll drag show him Pyramids too.

My question (yes, sorry for the long waffle) - What do you think of these? Obviously not a forever and ever quality, but look and layout?

Anyone else fancy talking camp, please feel free to add or change the topic, I'm easy.

I know, it was amazing! You could open both doors and it would feel like you're all in the open (which is what I like of bell tent when sides rolled up), yet in seconds zip all up 5 seconds later when the sun's gone

And it felt so HUGE, even though it was technically smaller than the bell. I really loved it.

Also, if you combined that with an awning at either (or both?) sides when you had no space restrictions, you'd have a huge living space even if it rained. I might still go for one of those one day...

lol I love the little question at the bottom of the page after they have shown you all the pictures and told you all the guff about it.

'How many do you want?'

rather presumptious

I'll have half a dozen please.

How much was the Touareg in Holland? Not that I actually need another tent but it does look lovely .... .

MisSalLaneous · 03/05/2010 19:47

Oh Mollie, it was!

Obelink link to the Dutch site. They also don't ship these to the UK.

This tarp would go with it. That's the one I bought for my bell tent too.

I assume the fact that the tarp link is English that they will ship it to the UK. Doesn't seem to be a huge difference in price between the Obelink one and the bell-tent one. At least not enough to cover the cost of getting to and from Holland, or am I mistaken?

MisSalLaneous · 03/05/2010 20:16

Yes, Obelink does ship that to the UK.

I can't see the price for a cotton only one of Tent-tents (Obelink) - the one I've got is Poly/Cotton.

Polycotton €47. It will be €60 including delivery.

Belltent says "cotton" £79. Will be £85 including delivery.

I'm not sure if it's the same product (weight, size etc exactly the same). If it isn't, I think the belltent one is the better option. If it is, well, depends. I usually prefer to buy locally as easier if you want to return etc, and not sure if £25 worth the risk/hassle. I usually use the same rationale with ebay purchases - if savings less than £50 I can't be bothered. But then, I am odd like that.

Sorry I meant the price difference for the Touareg, not the tarp! Am trying to follow GB webchat at the same time.

MisSalLaneous · 03/05/2010 20:24

Ah, sorry!

No, they don't ship the Touareg to the UK.

Have worked it out - basically about £100 difference between UK tent and Obelink tent so that wouldn't make a trip to Holland worthwhile!

MisSalLaneous · 03/05/2010 20:32

Yep, definitely not. I was just itching to go anyway and we often do insane things like this, but it's definitely not cheaper actually driving there.

If you fancy doing it anyway (like we did), then you can see it as the savings partly funding the trip, but not any other way. (For example, our tunnel costs and diesel was prob around £150, plus then hotel costs.)

Am very jealous of the people living in Holland though - that shop is SO cool. It's like the Ikea of camping.
