Am so happy to have found this topic

I'm off for a (child and DP free) camping weekend with my friends in about 6 weeks. I really can't wait!

Am also hoping to take 18mo DD on her first camping trip later in the year. Not sure whether to do a long weekend or just sod it and go for a whole week?

Am stupidly excited , haven't been camping since June last year!

BariatricObama · 22/03/2010 14:10

there is a moomin party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PavlovtheCat · 22/03/2010 14:14

I thought the moomin party looked good too! For me, not DD!

Curiousmama · 22/03/2010 14:42

Glad you've joined birdistheword

Trout where are you going in Co Durham, that's where I live

Ivykaty44 · 22/03/2010 14:46

saggyhairy where are you going in Holland?

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 15:03

I've bookmarked that festival. it looks a little heavy of the bunting cupcake/glamper front, but I guess I could handle that for a weekend.

BariatricObama · 22/03/2010 15:07

but its not in north wales [gasp]

PavlovtheCat · 22/03/2010 15:08

DH said he can manage it as long as he can have a drink or two i said it appears there will be no bar so should probably bring a bottle of beer or two of his own! I can do bunting for a weekend!

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 15:51

I've not been to a festival in years. Last one was Christian rock festival (I kid you not). I would just have to convince dh. He does like going to north wales though. It will be a hard task.

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 15:53

hmmmm at no bar

Would there be a stall selling those chick pea fritter things, and elder flower presse?

Could I take my goretex?

troutpout · 22/03/2010 15:54

Oh slubber... embrace the bunting!!
Shall we take kaftans and custard creams?

I am making it my mission to outpimp everyone there

That site looks great Slubber thanks

Last year we went to Barnard castle curiousmama but we want to go slightly further north this year. Any ideas ? We are revisiting beamish too. It's a beautiful area .. we loved it.

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 16:06

I will never embrace the bunting. I embraced minimalism last year so am spent on the embracing front.

Have you done that festival before then trouty?

Is there any woo? DH will NOT do woo.

troutpout · 22/03/2010 16:28

No... It's a new festival. I'm not generally a festival type of girl. It looks good though doesn't it?

ds is particularly keen on the bushcraft skills workshop
dd likes the look of everything
dh doesn't know what he's let himself in for

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 16:32

It looks great. I am seriously tempted.

troutpout · 22/03/2010 16:37

Can't see any woo on website . Hoping not.
Dh and I are not woo people

MisSalLaneous · 22/03/2010 16:41

Troutpout, that festival looks lovely! From what age would you consider it? Two too young still?

Well, we're doing one night in East Sussex in mid May (dh and I still disagreeing about that one - he says he'll be staying in a b&b if cold and leave me to it! ).

Then a weekend in a yurt beginning of June as a special treat for dh's birthday.

In July a week in Kent will be our first ever "long" camping trip.

Then, lastly, weekend at Wowo late August.

I ordered two Fat Airics and a Wee one for ds last night, and can't wait to try them out! I want to go camping now. Then I look out the window and think waiting a couple of weeks might be wiser...

LadyBiscuit · 22/03/2010 17:04

We are going mid-April for the weekend with a load of mates. We went to a festival last year which was a bit of a disaster as everyone buggered off in the evenings and I was stuck in my tent on my lonesome (am LP) so am hoping that there will be much merry-making round the campfire next month and I can join in

Lucycat · 22/03/2010 17:37

Dorset - Whit week
France - for aeons in the summer - in fact we might never return.

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 17:53

Would you like to shut up now about your overly long and quite fankly vulgar sounding holidays in France Lucy. All your poncing about in the warm balmy evenings, drinking chilled rose and probably laughing and reading a good book whilst sat out at 11pm in your shorts.

Really, no one wants to hear about them any more.

Batteryhuman · 22/03/2010 18:04

Wychwood Festival in June. Just me and 2 of the DSs. I love Wychwood and it is a fabulous introduction to festivalling for those of you with young kids.

2 weeks in France in August, thanks to Lucycat for the recommendation.

Maybe a weekend at easter if the weather forecast gets much much better!

brightwell · 22/03/2010 18:12

We'll be having a few weekends at a local campsite where you can have campfires, ds loves gathering wood & proding fires.
We're going to France for 3 weeks in the summer.
Cornbury & Shrewsbury folk festivals.

Lucycat · 22/03/2010 18:29

Really slubber? No more tales of balmy evenings ,olives, wine and barbecues by the lake?
Why ever not?

Slubberdegullion · 22/03/2010 18:30

because I will be SICK, that is why not.

troutpout · 22/03/2010 18:32

Looks small child/ baby friendly... MissSal
doesn't it ? Lots on for little ones by the looks of it. Look on the 'what's on' bit of the website.
