yep, me too - but then I do wear crocs round the campsite deliberately for ease of slipping on and off going into/out of the tent.

Slubberdegullion · 21/03/2010 19:59

I've always been ashamed on this habit. I'm hopeful this thread will make us shoe turner rounders feel less freaky.

Crocs for me too.
THe best tip I got off here was a small bin with a lid, bin bag and cat litter for night time wees.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/03/2010 20:00

I sniggered at the very idea then realised I do do it at night.

SingleMum01 · 21/03/2010 20:00

as a non-camper I'm intrigued as to what a shoe turner rounder does - please enlighten

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2010 20:02

makes shoes face the tent door!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/03/2010 20:03

The clue's in the title!

TheCappster · 21/03/2010 20:04

I take my shoes off in the dark and then if I need to get up I just fumble around blindly, falling over the table.

PandaG · 21/03/2010 20:04

singlemum - our tent has a sewn in groundsheet and we don't want ot covered in grass/mud, so we take off and leave shoes in the porch. by turning them round you can just step straight out over the lip of the tent into your shoes and walk out of the porch, no faff!

  • particularly useful for first wee of the morning!
duckyfuzz · 21/03/2010 20:07

oh yes - and I always take birkies for ease (and speed in the middle of the night!)

Slubberdegullion · 21/03/2010 20:07

BadKitten, I put my crocs outside the tent door (no shoes in the tent!) so I unzip and slip straight in.

Mine therefore face AWAY from the door

Crocs outside the tent???

Ooooooh no.

Things may get inside.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/03/2010 20:09

First wee of the morning should be done in wellies cos otherwise the ends of your jamas get damp on the dewy grass.

PandaG · 21/03/2010 20:09
Grin
rainbowinthesky · 21/03/2010 20:10

I love crocs for camping and I'm not afraid to stand up and proclaim it.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/03/2010 20:10

Obviously I'm not advocating weeing into your wellies....

I mean wear them to go to the toilet block

PandaG · 21/03/2010 20:11
  • Mary - I am ashamed to say my jamas are tucked into my thick socks to prevent drafts when sleeping, and the dewy ends when trotting about he campsite
PandaG · 21/03/2010 20:11

I knew what you meant, ROFL!

Slubberdegullion · 21/03/2010 20:12

things?

Mine are on the holy doormat and therfore in a raised position. I have yet to find a thing in my croc Mary.

OP posts:
MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/03/2010 20:13

things may not actually get in but the thought of them is too much.

Though the things I worry about would be put off by the scratchy surface of a doormat, so that's a very good reason for having one.

IMoveTheStars · 21/03/2010 20:13

@ Mary.

Yes, we've always done this. A neat row of flip-flops lined up in front of the door

Slubberdegullion · 21/03/2010 20:14

I roll my jammies up from the top to prevent dew dampness, you do get a camel's hoof but the fleece over the top hides it.

PandaG · 21/03/2010 20:14

oh yes, the Outwell doormat! I am very pleased with mine, and the fitted carpet!

(hastens to add only have carpet as it came in a job lot with our 2nd tent from Ebay, but we really like it!)

Slubberdegullion · 21/03/2010 20:17

I do not have an outwell doormat. Mine is from the hardware shop, and as Mary has pointed out the roughness and raisedness prevents creatures climbing up. The holes allow air to circulate so the grass doesn't die.
