www.tents4less.co.uk/outwell-nevada-l-2010.html this one?is it any good? or are there any similar but cheaper?

yep looks a goodun! Will you all be sleeping in the one big bedroom? can you remove the extra bedroom to give more inside space?

Check out the sizes of a 8 berth and compare how much extra space you get and decide whether you might prefer a bit more 'catswinging' space {sorry Lucy the cat )

sammac · 30/12/2009 14:01

We bought this one. Are new to camping but have used it over weekend break in September and am planning on many outings over the summer. Nice and spacious for 4 of us, with room for dd (16) to bring friend/s as desired. Got it at a better price than this this- including footprint and carpet at Go Outdoors in September- think it was £399.

Is a good quality compared to some other makes which were cheaper- am being poptomistic realistic regarding our weather and tents coping factor

sammac · 30/12/2009 14:30

Foundthis wandering around ebay.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 19:50

oh aren't you nice, helping me out like this. the blooming' nevada actually seems to be MORE expensive than it was last year gggrrrr. i do agree about the 8 berther but aren't they ENORMOUS? and the michigan looks ginormo as well, and poss too expensive. i'm rather cheap.

I'm hitching a ride on your thread Aitch.

I need the same as you!

Hope we don't end up having a fight ...

Wots your budget?

sammac · 30/12/2009 19:57

We are all tall and wanted to stand up. If you knew me, I am so the LAST person you would believe loves camping! We went to France with Canvas in the summer, so think we assumed that tents should be that size! ( Well I didn't but kidded on to dh

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 20:04

i have a crappy tent from argos, which is actually fine but doesn't have a sig and i do so want one, and i'd like two zippy areas so that i can clear stuff out of the way. the one we have is supposedly for four or five, i can't remember, but has only one sleeping pod so all our stuff just lies outside the door.

my budget... well that sodding nevada was only 250 in the freaking summer, so almost as a point of principle i'll be narked if i pay more.

Look what I found just for you

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 30/12/2009 20:51

My hardcore camping friends have the Nevada but I thought it was a bit small, tbh, when we were camping with them this summer. They have two teens, though. But its not easily standuppable in.

I'm looking for a nice big archy shape tent. Can't remember what they're called. Tunnel tents?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 21:03

oh really? i thought that the middle bit would be fine. i should go and see it put up, i think. my sister has the... colorado i think, it looks so similar but this is a size or so up. we have a tunnel at the mo, it's a DODDLE to put up.

thanks sammac, that is GREAT! i actually found that site yesterday but it said they were out of stock, so i wouldn't have bothered checking again.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 21:04

re the small... for shortish trips with two kids and two adults? it's the sort of thing i might consider getting an extension to. or should i just man up and go for a bigger tent?

ah bugger no, this is the one i'm after. the large one. www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/outwell_nevada_l_tent_comes_with_free_carpet_2010__1971

We've just bought this

Montana's are so well reviewed and the living area is huge.

Go Outdoors had them for £299 but seem to have sold out everywhere so this was the next best price we could find.

It arrived 2 days after ordering - free delivery

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 21:17

+-everyone does love the montana, don't they? the thing that i don't like is the 3+3 bedroom thing. i'd rather we all slept together and had another room for storage.

OP posts:
Jojay · 30/12/2009 21:28

Mmm, probably no good for you then

I'm SO excited now it's here - dreaming of camping trips this summer. Who cares that it's sleeting outside now

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 30/12/2009 21:34

Oh, I like that Montana, Jojay.

See, we're unlikely to go camping for more than a couple of weekends a year but I don't think we'd go at all if DH (6ft 4) couldn't stand up in the tent. And I'd like the tent to last us beyond the point when dd and ds are older and want separate rooms.

My friends with the teens felt more cramped in the Nevada because they are boy and girl and didn't want to sleep in same bedroom.

(But you have dds don't you Aitch and still only little yet?)

And, you never know, if we have a really comfy tent we might get more into camping and get more use out of it!

And ... we have a large cellar so no problem with storage.

sammac · 30/12/2009 22:07

Is there somewhere that you can go and have a try out of them nearby? Although I 'm not sure if they're erected( can I say that ) at this time of the year.

We went to Go Outdoors and had a good mooch around. Was originally after the Montana too, but decided that a room each for dd and ds might stop some of the squabbles.

Our one has 3 pods, although we thought that one might be used for storage if only 2 were used for sleeping. Also meant that the main area was kept relatively tidy as everyone kept their own stuff in their own space.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 30/12/2009 22:29

yy i totally agree aboutthe pods, but the thing is that we do have problems with storage, but otoh that might change if we move house. two ddsm both littlies, so it would be weird to have them in another room from us. oh lord i don'tknow...

We have a Wynnster, which has been fab (but ours is 12 berth). This one is a similar desin 6 berth - looks good?

MissGreatBritain · 02/01/2010 20:06

Norwich Camping are very good (we live nearby and often go to their real life shop). They usually have some good stuff in the sales.

We have one of these which is absolutely enormous, but ideal when it rains because you can get everyone inside and still put up your table and chairs. It's more of a marquee really! They do a slightly smaller one (Amazon 600) which might suit you better.

Milliways · 02/01/2010 20:07

or, if you can afford a Khyam - these are the easiest to erect as the poles are integrated. Goes up very easily (friends have one)

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 04/01/2010 00:09

thanks ladies, i'm having a look at all of these. my problem is the blooming sleeping arrangements, really, i can't bear the idea of being in a separate pod from the kids.

OP posts:
MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 04/01/2010 01:03

We have a Sahara 6 and love it. The 3 boys share a pod, we have another and the other is for storage.

Why don't you feel you can sleep seperate from your children? We find that everyone sleeps better this way as I am up in the night and this way the DC don't get disturbed.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 04/01/2010 01:23

well, dd2 doesn't sleep through the night yet and dd1 (4) hates being inside the sleeping bag so gets very cold at night when the temp drops. i'd have no objection when they're older, but i can't see how it's remotely practical at the moment.
