We need a sleeping bag for DS1 who is 3yo (after the recent Readybed disaster), can anyone please recommend one that isn't too long? Is there a good adjustable type one?

I'm fed of googling and getting grobag type things ....

Yes we are camping - we've nearly come to a final decision on which tent to buy and everything

I have to say the football icon puts me off that one

o f*
this thread has reminded me that ds needs a new sleeping bag. he has grown too tall for his old one, and if he is to go away on a week long camp, he will need the roomier adult one.
thank youfor remindingme. i shall now poach all your suggetions

This one is a bit long but it does have tractors on it.

Lots kids ones here

I just bought this one for dd. She did have a ReadyBed but kept rolling off it. And now it deflates overnight. Plus it was all polyester and sweaty. The sleeping bag is cotton inside, and has a clever zip thingy to stop the inside of the bag getting caught in the zip when they do it up.

You could do as Orinoco says, and leave it half unzipped. Put child in "feet to foot" and fold top of bag down on the outside.

Have you looked at these? We got them for ds1 (4.6) and dd (2.11) and they were great on our one and only camping trip (so far - practice run in PILs garden ).

They do have the stringy bits round the hoods but you could untie them and pull them out if they bothered you.

Alternatively, this is the square version.

Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:21

Thanks for all the links. I have seen the tractor one in the flesh and it did look waaay too long, but is lovely. The catnap one looks fab, how long is that in metric ?

We so nearly bought that Vango tent last week oops...we have since drifted to an Outwell Montana 6 ...well I think that is our final decision anyway.

Teehee Olihan, that square one reminds me of the 80's for some reason

Can't you get a normal sleeping bag and tie a belt around the outside to shorten it?

I could use a belt DB, but DS1 fiddles..he fiddles with everything.

I cannot believe noone has designed a toddler sized sleeping bag. They go from baby sized straight to (fairly tall) child size

oh i saw one recently in an outdoors shop.
now, let's see if i can sober up a bit and remember where......

Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:26

I prefered the vango, but DH likes the Montana. I also had my eye on some old stock of the Indiana 8, but DH wants a sig apparently.

here
It's sooooo cute.

Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:32

I saw that one today at Go Outdoors; sadly it is a bit too short for DS1, but I was tempted to get one for DS2 (he doesn't really need one, I know)...

Dragonbutter, there are some nice ones on that site. The Dino Explorer looks kinda cool!

Dragonbutter · 12/07/2008 23:32

on the same website look at the nitestar junior.

Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:37

waaaah the junior one is too long

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 12/07/2008 23:42

oh now come on washersaurus.
the baby one is 100cm long
the junior one is 145cm long.

don't tell me that you need one 120cm long!!!!
seriously. dude.

Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:54

The baby one is more like 80cm, surely?! I've seen them both in the shop and it looked like there was a huge difference between them...honestly

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 12/07/2008 23:55

half a metre is quite a bit in toddler terms

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 13/07/2008 00:02

well the 'techspec' says 100cm but i suppose that might include the hood bit.
but that might mean that the junior length of 145cm also includes the hood so might be more like 120!?!?

i don't know.
what i do know is that I should have gone to bed hours ago. I have to work tomorrow.
good luck.
(you're going to need it )

Washersaurus · 13/07/2008 00:06

I'll just run one up on my sewing machine and lovingly stuff it with down feathers

Thanks for your help this evening everyone - it looks like 145cm is the length we'll have to get.
