have a look at walnut farm campsite in Waxham
www.walnutfarmwaxham.co.uk/
you can read reviews of it here, and see easy recommendations of how to get to the nearest beach etc

maybe look at Kelling Heath, too. That's one the locals swoon over.

We love High Sand Creek as it’s great for kids. Part of the site is given over to ball games, and toys, tennis racquets, footballs and such like are available in reception. You can also borrow crabbing nets and buy bags of bait. The thick hedge that separates the site from the marshes is a favourite spot for our DC to explore! Just four hook-ups, as the aim is to keep the site as old-fashioned as possible. The village shop stocks basic groceries. The Red Lion Pub is within walking distance and does good food. There’s also a playground near by.

Swallowtails is another favourite, and especially worth looking at if you’re wanting nature. It has a children's play area, table tennis, badminton and a small football pitch, supplies shack, freezers for re-freezing cool blocks, washing up hut, a lake with a pond dipping platform (and nets/trays to borrow), woodland and a den building area. There are nightly communal campfires (but you don’t have to attend), bat walks and nature walks.

Try manor farm. I’m sure it’s only a 15 minute walk to co-op/Lidl and the beach at Cromer.

Many of the sites close to the beaches are quite commercial and high density for my liking.

The best sandy beaches, Brancaster, Holkham, Wells, don’t tend to have sites close to the coast because they are backed by marsh or reclaimed marsh.

High Sands is a walk over the marsh path to the beach, which at Stiffkey is a mix of sand flats and channels requiring immense care and a need to be on the salt marsh side before the tide turns. Very beautiful landscape and lots of good birdwatching. A lovely (long) walk along the N. n coast path to the beach at Wells.

Galley Farm is a small functional site on the outskirts of Blakeney, walkable to the creek, OK for swimming at high tide, nice village.

Mundesley has a quiet campsite, that's only a 10 minute walk to the village and beach.

ComeBy · 27/06/2020 13:45

Mundesley beach is lovely.

Highperbolay · 27/06/2020 13:53

Check out Waxham Sands Holiday Park FB page - it's actually a really great campsite and on an amazing beach (it's literally behind the dunes) but the people who run it are absolutely batshit! 😂 Not one to go for if you aren't going to comply by 'the rules' (they were very rule heavy even pre-Covid!) but actually it is a fantastic place and I think they get lots of repeat visitors.

mumwon · 27/06/2020 14:53

Kelling Heath is lovely with great facilities (from years ago visit) BUT it is a big site but with a lovely woodland area within it - not near the beach BUT it is on the steam railway route from Sheringham to Holt - its own train station!

Railingsohno · 27/06/2020 15:13

Thank you all very much! In the end we decided just to book a hotel as it’s only for 2 nights before we go on a boat on the Broads. Bit of a shame as it would have been nice to get the tent out but we thought it might be more relaxing just to stay in a hotel. I will keep all those recommendations for another time 😊

I can confirm kelling Heath is still amazing just it’s definitely a drive to the beach. Lovely nature walks and facilities though. I’ve just remembered however kelling Heath has a sister site right on the cliff top.

SpamandSparkle · 11/07/2020 19:12

Just got back from a week at Walnut Farm Waxham and can confirm a really brill site.

Hand wash and sanitiser by each of the sites shared facilities and a sanitiser station outside.
Showers lovely and hot - can be a bit lively initially temperature wise!
Took own water but only because I struggle with the Norfolk water (has a funny effect on me.....)

ImFree2doasiwant · 12/07/2020 17:27

@SpamandSparkle im just lookknh at Walnut Farm, is there a seperate site for tents? All I can find is touring pitches and yurts.

ImFree2doasiwant · 12/07/2020 17:40

Just realised touring caravan pitches are possibly the same as tents.....

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 12/07/2020 17:43

imfree they are the same pitches

Norfolk Beach campsite
SpamandSparkle · 12/07/2020 20:53

Re walnut farm yep you initially look for touring pitches either with electric hook up or the summer pitches
Then select tent from the unit list as to what you are bringing.

The online booking system is fairly easy to navigate as well. They charge £1 for 10 minutes in the shower which you pay for up front and get given a smart card with your credit on - this will also operate the washer and dryer in laundry room ( didn't try these out)
Message me if you have any further questions and I'll answer as best I can

sepsisandAKI · 12/07/2020 21:09

Walnut Farm looks lovely. We’ve been looking to go camping in Norfolk but struggling to find availability. Anyone got any more recommendations? Thanks

ImFree2doasiwant · 12/07/2020 22:04

The campsite at Burnham Deepdale seems popular @sepsisandAKI I haven't been myself though. Kelling heath is great, I've not camped there but stayed in a lodge. There is Breck Farm nearby.

sepsisandAKI · 13/07/2020 20:35

Thank you. Will have a look!

sepsisandAKI · 13/07/2020 22:32

@ImFree2doasiwant thanks just booked Breck Farm.

DiscontentedWoman · 13/07/2020 22:35

Breck farm is great - and campfires Grin

sepsisandAKI · 13/07/2020 22:55

@DiscontentedWoman we are in the EHU field so no campfires. I was tempted though! So cheap, thought I’d put the wrong amount of nights in!
