Can an electric car pull a trailer?

If so which ones? And how heavy can the trailer be?

SamanthaStripyPants · 08/06/2020 09:14

Ps 800kg sounds really light.

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 09:19

I am allowed to tow and have towed once or twice before but I plan on taking the course but not the test (unless it has insurance implications)

I thought that about the weight

You need to take a separate trailer test if you passed your driving test after the 1st Jan 1997. You can tow up to 750kg without a test, I believe.

I'm pretty good with trailers but I usually tow big ones. Small ones are a lot more difficult to reverse.

SamanthaStripyPants · 08/06/2020 09:52

You're right. 1997 not 2003.

Either way I was 1991!

A Rice trailer is apparently 750kg - does that sound plausible?

Rosieposy4 · 08/06/2020 16:30

A horse rice, no way, they are heavy old things, and they are all old. rice stopped trading about 10 years ago ( or more?) bought out by Richardson but they have also stopped trading I think about 7 years ago.
The single horse ifor williams weigh about that, as do some of the cheval liberties.

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 17:11

So many trailer with no weight plate

I have taken to suggesting a visit to a weighbridge to get a certificate

I tow a double Ifor Williams with a 16h horse with a Volvo XC90 T8 which is a hybrid. It’s effortless and can tow up to 2400kg.

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 17:54

Thanks @Horseymum45 slightly out of my price range but lovely (may I message you about a horsebox as you know more than me)

We might manage the Mitsubishi or an Audi....If I economise elsewhere I'll have a think

OP posts:
Horseymum45 · 08/06/2020 17:57

Of course, no problem Smile

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 18:17

Thanks - I'm really getting confused

@AnnoyedbyAlfieBear I looked all over the place for that before I realised there wasn't one, boo hoo! But I guess every car I've ever had has SOMETHING I'm not happy about and this is still my favourite ever car. But yes this is a definite area for improvement!

SamanthaStripyPants · 08/06/2020 21:04

The outlander has an LCV version which I believe is just front seats and a massive boot. How would that suit? You may be able to sleep in that and tow the truck?

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 21:54

That is lovely and affordable (just)

& I might get away with just a very little trailer or even not one at all if I can work out some storage for hanging things

Mind you it might be better to take less with me - but online selling isn't really working for me

OP posts:
KatyMac · 09/06/2020 13:03

@SamanthaStripyPants

Doe you know if the car version is the same size? And do the seats come out?

I'll ring a garage if you don't: I remember our Ulysses the seats came out so that is a possibility

OP posts:
SamanthaStripyPants · 09/06/2020 13:08

They have exactly the same shell so yes the same size.

I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to get the seats out in the passenger car version as I think you can undo any cars seats if you know how.

SamanthaStripyPants · 09/06/2020 13:09

But I don't think they pop in and out like some seven seaters do with the back two.

Have you tried sponsored posts for online selling?

KatyMac · 09/06/2020 13:43

Ok so that's less possible then - maybe I'll see if there are hybrid 7 seaters? Or consider the empty one overtime I think one thing, something else happens

IKm not sure what you mean by 'sponsored posts for selling on-line'

I am considering organising some marketing help for post-covid to help with things but I am a tiny designer and I need to start thinking more about it

OP posts:
SamanthaStripyPants · 09/06/2020 15:09

On Facebook you can do sponsored adverts that cost a small amount and you monitor how many people you have reached. I think they go on instgram as well. Just something I've seen but don't really know about. Imagine online is quite difficult but once you've cracked it...

Are you on Etsy?

Can't think of any seven seater hybrids but I'm about to get knee deep in a report of all vehicles currently available so will say if I see something.

KatyMac · 09/06/2020 17:56

Thanks they don't need 7 seats just removable back ones Grin DH quite likes the van but worries about only 2 seats

FB ads are odd and I don't understand them

This month I have about 18000 reach and about 4,500 engagements but no sales - I am slowly building up my Instagram but it's tiny (just 200)

If I advertise on Instagram it automatically advertises on FB too (as I found out when somethin on insta I hadn't put on FB appeared with likes)

Up until my mum died 2 weeks ago I had to be very careful with money (4 adults living on DH's pension as both of the kids wages left with Covid and we are shielding)

So this is a sort of relaunch of the business

Etsy is also 'odd' in order to get high with the algorithm you need to offer free postage to the States and on a £30 kids dress it makes it unsaleable

I have tried Monday and folksy but it seems face to face is best - I plan on visiting green fairs and markets alongside craft markets offering a mending table alongside selling

What's your insta page? If it's not too outing.

There are two festivals that might suit depending on your location. Eroica which is in bakewell, Derbyshire And pistons and props in sywell, Northampton. They're all vintage and quirky... in a Good way.

KatyMac · 09/06/2020 22:12

They sound nice - I have a lot of crossover between folk/wiccan/steampunk/mainstream with touches of world music (cos of DD)

I messaged you
