Try a little summer camping weekend with some of you experts.

How about a camping meet-up during the school summer holidays in South Wales?(that is the Wales nearer London, isn't it? Geography is not a strong point. )

I'd be up for that. I'd bring the two bigger Bubble Boys and leave the 2 littlies with Mr Bubble.

Any takers?

hmm, rethink about suitable site required then perhaps?

bauble99 · 01/12/2006 22:20

Oh, I see, I'm being dim

We, of course, couldn't ask to be pitched together when we booked, of course.

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 01/12/2006 22:21

Well, that is partly true - we only know each other via t'internet.

bauble99 · 01/12/2006 22:22

Pitches are allocated in advance/ on booking, I suppose?

Where were those other places that you mentioned Sally?

I have come over all Girl Guide-ish at the prospect of singing in a circle.

And if he/she was a Pink Floyd fan he/she would be furious.

We'd need to be pitched together so that we could leave littlies in tents while we massacre Pink Floyd songs on the guitar. I wouldn't want to leave my boys in a tent if I wasn't very nearby.

Could we try for a group booking if we pretend to be a totally non-threatening group. Bird-watchers or field geographers etc. I can understand the 'no groups' rule as a deterrant against groups of rowdy 18 year olds. But this is us FGS.

Actually, I can't include you two in that last statement as you both look as if you've still got a bit of go in you....

I'm more than happy to do some phoning around. Can we agree on some dates? Anytime during end of July (after the 23rdish) or the whole of August is good for me. I'd do a 3 day stay, I reckon.

Keep this bumped with any more sites that you find. I'll try and sweet talk the owners and explain that the only reason we'd need to all be pitched together is for childcare/babylistening reasons. Must be worth a try?

Gingerbear · 01/12/2006 22:54

There is still life in me yet, lol.
What about 1st weekend in August?
Off to browse those sites now, then need my bed.
will keep bumping.

GB, can you do midweek?

The 6th August onwards is good for me, SS.

I'll check in and bump this later.

Shouldn't be a problem. I will be on Maternity leave and DH can book some days off easily this far in advance.

Gingerbear · 02/12/2006 13:41

Although he is having second thoughts about taking a new baby camping (if it is cool and damp instead of hot and sunny)
I will bring him around
Have been scouring the UKcamping forum for tips on camping with a baby. A Samsonite pop-up cot has been recommended, and a vango baby sleeping bag.

We will need to borrow some gear. I will speak sweetly to PandaG, who has kindly offered to loan the family gear.

OOo, so envious. We used to stay at the christchurch campsite and it was fab - a bit of a posh site for us! Lots of lovely walks from the campsite, pub nearby (with play equipment for the LOs), good facilities, playground on site. I don't think Christchurch accepts dogs, but Bracelands down the hill does & has the group area that SS mentioned. Wish I could join you
