This campsite would be perfect for us EXCEPT no pool, and the DC's do love a pool....

It looks beautiful, beachside location, quiet, not too touristy etc etc....

I'm happy travelling this far but not really any further south, want to be no more than 6.5 or 7 hrs max form Calais.

Anybody have any other ideas?

TIA

Les Sablons in Languedoc? beautiful beach nearby, great restaurants nearby. We stopped at Blois in the Loire each way overnight. ( eurocamp)

...if you are interested we booked www.lesvalades.com/en/

we're going via Calais and stopping on the way down in the loire valley and on the way back near rouen.

I'm super excited Grin

we abandoned the idea of seaside as the lake looks fab!

Ferme du Prunay near Blois. Think its in Cool Camping. It's fab. Not too busy. Smallish pool but one of our favourite French sites. As long as the kids aren't teens as there's nothing for them and it's in the country so no where to walk to apart from the animal petting area and sunflower fields!! About five hours from the tunnel. Easily do-able and area got loads of stuff to visit.

OOh...just read you'll go further...stay at ferme du prunay on way down then five hours further is La Source Lac De Sarrans (flower camping). Beautiful and friendly but quite hilly! Get lakeside pitch or pitch 55 or 56 are the roomiest without being at the top of the hill, if possible.

I see you have already booked Les Valades - we have that on our list for next year Grin

However, as DD is a waterslide fiend (and has been since she was under 2 terrifyingly) we tend to go with Yelloh! as they tend to excel on the waterslide/pool front (for our requirements at least). They also tend to be massive corporate-type sites but you can't fault their cleanliness and entertainment, particularly for the children, so we go with that for the time being, at least.

You will LOVE Les Valades. No slides except they do have a massive inflatable one in the middle of the lake. We went last year and are returning for 2 weeks this summer since we definitely did not explore the area enough. When are you going?

georgeousgeorge · 20/05/2014 11:59

Last week in August....
