This campsite would be perfect for us EXCEPT no pool, and the DC's do love a pool....

It looks beautiful, beachside location, quiet, not too touristy etc etc....

I'm happy travelling this far but not really any further south, want to be no more than 6.5 or 7 hrs max form Calais.

Anybody have any other ideas?

TIA

Dingit, how close to parc asterix is it? We want to go there on the way back from the jura.

dingit · 26/04/2014 15:58

From memory, 40 mins, and it's well sign posted. I'll double check when Dh gets back. Might be worth checking, we got in with Tesco vouchers, but that was two tears ago.

My kids adored Des Ormes; even now in their late teens they remember the holidays they had there.

dingit · 26/04/2014 16:20

I can't wait tinkly!

dingit · 26/04/2014 17:41

Sorry, dh thinks it was about an hour Blush

Fannydabbydozey · 26/04/2014 21:47

Dx huttopia rille is fab and my kids think it is the perfect campsite. It can suffer from entitled Brit campers at times but the location is great, pitches are generous and it feels very, very chilled. It is my kid's favourite campsite ever. Shop is expensive and poorly stocked but there is a huge Super u close by near the wonderfully named "Hommes"

It is also close to saumur for great fizz and lovely town centre. We usually do a week there and a week at the coast I.e noirmoutier or Ile de re. It's not too bad a drve from huttopia rille back to dieppe either.

Fannydabbydozey · 26/04/2014 21:50

Dx? I mean hz!

georgeousgeorge · 28/04/2014 11:40

wow - thanks for all these recommendations - you guys have sent me off in a whole new direction now!!! I hadn't appreciated we could have a beach away from the coast [thick] Grin

Some of these are superb!

I am making a point of trying les valides as it looks superb!!!

We've stayed at Ferme Du Prunay near Blois a few times and its a family favourite. Very small child friendly but nothing much for older kids. Donkeys, goats and pot bellied pigs to be petted at end of lane. Smallish pool but very friendly atmosphere. Huge pitches and surrounded by sunflowers. 5 hours from the tunnel in Landrover pulling a trailer so probably about 4 in a car!! Lots of Dutch and no real English spoken so brush up on your much needed phrases before you go!

georgeousgeorge · 29/04/2014 09:19

fannydabbydozy - where do you stay in the noirmoutier area?

zeebee · 29/04/2014 21:13

dingit would you mind telling me a bit more about the toboggan run in/near Jura region please? How far (we'll be at Clairvaux les lacs)? Are cable cars in Alps handy? Many thanks.

dingit · 29/04/2014 21:54

Zeebee, after much debating with dh ( it was about 5 years ago),it was at Mijoux which on the Swiss/ French border. I don't think I can link on iPad but this is the website

www.monts-jura.com/en/the-resort-summer/mijoux-la-faucille-area.html

It's quite expensive, but very worth it. We also went up the cable car with stunning views over Lake Geneva.

millimat · 29/04/2014 22:55

Server when will you be there? May see you!!

millimat · 29/04/2014 22:56

meant zeebee! autocorrect...

Fannydabbydozey · 30/04/2014 23:34

We stayed at the indigo one (see my review up the thread) I wouldn't ever go back tbh.

I'm forever on the hunt for the perfect French campsite:
Quiet - ish (no water slides, discos or karaoke)
Near the coast
Near a quiet beach
Naice surroundings
Restaurant that serves great moules frites/pizza within walking distance
Spacious pitches
Decent showers
Friendly vibe

I haven't found one that ticks all boxes :(

Fannydabbydozey · 30/04/2014 23:34

The above message was for gorgeousgeorge!

Mmmmnotquitesure · 30/04/2014 23:54

Lac de st Cyr - going for third time this year..!

dingit · 01/05/2014 07:57

Fanny, we are the opposite, my dc rate a campsite according to the water slides!

Fannydabbydozey · 01/05/2014 21:24

Ding it what my dc want and what I want are totally different things...

I win. So far (they are 8 and 10)

dingit · 01/05/2014 21:40

Fanny. Wait until they are moody teens. Just saying Wink

BingoWingsBeGone · 01/05/2014 21:45

This place in Brittany is lovely - great pool, beach nearby, quiet but some kids activities (bouncy castle & football area), crepe restaurant walking distance (serves pizza too)

poorbuthappy · 02/05/2014 15:46

Just came back to say couldn't get any prices under £700 for the ferry to St Malo. Hmm
So we are stopping off and have paid £70 to stay overnight in an Ibis instead.

zeebee · 02/05/2014 18:35

Thanks dingit. Will have a good look at that as think kids will love it.

millimat · 02/05/2014 19:59

dingit I'm with you. Water slides and diving boards win points. Lakes with beaches are double points.
If DCs are happy, I'm happy too.

georgeousgeorge · 04/05/2014 12:25

Ok, so my requirements have changed thanks to you lovely ladies! Dh has agreed to go further than 6 hours drive and stop over on the way! He is quite keen on the Jura or Dordogne or similar bit of a result as he hates camping. I would have booked les valides but it's already full on the 'big' pitches!

Pool / Waterslides essential!
Near a beach (lake or sea)
Naice surroundings
Restaurant that serves great moules frites/pizza within walking distance
Spacious pitches
Decent showers
Friendly vibe / Quiet - ish

Sorry Fannydabbydozey for ripping off your post, but most of the things match my requirements!!
