Please? Just a simple place with decent loos and showers (incl disabled) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks very much Smile.

You'll need at least 3 As to get in, though!

Pixel · 18/07/2012 21:29

doubt you'll find one for this weekend if that's when you're looking (at least two big events on this weekend)

we're camping near Banbury at a supercheap site on Saturday, reviews are very mixed but it's only one night! if it's any good I'll update

keepmoving · 18/07/2012 21:33

Wallingford has two campsites a council one that is connected to Wallingford Lido and one opposite (think it has Bridge in it's name) and has v clean power showers, loos etc. We've done both but I like the second one best!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/07/2012 21:37

There are a few out Cotswold way - prob too far out though.

Where in Oxford do you need to be?

Blu · 18/07/2012 21:44

People like Britchcombe Farm (no idea how accessible)

Pixel · 18/07/2012 21:49

Anytime in August will do, we've just been putting off booking anything due to the horrible weather. We don't need to be near anything in particular, we fancied going to an area we haven't been to before and Oxfordshire sounds nice, also doable as we can only manage a few days due to dh's work (self-employed) so don't want to go too far. We are in Brighton.

Thanks, will have a look at those suggestions. Smile

The CCC site at Chipping Norton is supposed to be v nice.

Pixel · 18/07/2012 22:17

Can't find much info about the Wallingford council one, but it seems much cheaper than all the others we've looked at so might end up there.
Bumpybecky yes please do let us know how you get on, we are on a tight budget (isn't everyone atm?). Don't think we will beat last year's bargain, £10 per night for four of us including electric hook-up - Stoneleigh Park if anyone is interested! Loos and showers weren't brilliantly clean but there were plenty of them, surroundings were beautiful and people in farm shop were super friendly.

One thing about the Wallingford site Pixel, is that to get into town with a wheelchair is going to be a bit of a diversion as you'll have to walk up the access road, rather than the direct route (up steep stone steps), and it was mostly an unmade road last time we were there.
But its a really pretty town and area. But watch out for mad old ladies on mobility scooters cos my mum does run people over I'm afraid.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/07/2012 22:34

Search for Cotswold campsite in Oxfordshire - there are lots more out that side of the county. I can't think of any (aside from the one behing Go Outdoors near the centre!) that are within 10 miles of Oxford!

Pixel · 18/07/2012 22:41

Thank you, but actually we should manage that ok. We need disabled facilities because ds can't manage to go to the toilet by himself or wash or anything like that, and he's really too big to take into the ladies with me now (although I did last year as the light had gone in the disabled loo and nobody objected, he's 12 btw). He does use a wheelchair sometimes as he can't walk far and he gets distressed in crowds (and frankly is too easy to lose, not good as he's non-verbal!) but he would be able to get out to climb some steps while we carried the chair up.

Britchcombe Farm is great, but has No Hook up and uses portaloos Grin

The CCC Oxford Club site looks good, Reviews are here

We like White Mark Farm in Watlington, has no hook up but very cheap and great facilities - also never gets waterlogged!

Milliways · 18/07/2012 22:48

White Mark Farm

Pixel · 18/07/2012 23:12

Ooh I really like the look of White Mark farm, and you are right it is cheap. Unfortunately dh has poor eyesight and refuses to go unless he can have an electric light to read by.Sad (Don't worry, I'm doing the driving!)
Just saw a nice cotswold one, then realised they want full payment 6 weeks before arrival which would be leaving it a bit late for us. Honestly, it's a minefield reading all the small print!

Not sure if it fits your 'cheap' requirement, but we are going to Lincoln Farm Park in August, it looks lovely! Not far from Oxford I don't think.

brightwell · 19/07/2012 17:35

Britchcombe is great but very basic, a favourite of mine is Greenhill farm park, lovely facilities, local takeaway will deliver to your pitch.

horrorcomic · 20/07/2012 09:11

Would second greenhill leisure park. A lovely site and only 10 minutes from the park and ride. We have been 2 years in a row and will be going back again.

horrorcomic · 20/07/2012 09:13

Should also have said it has ehu and disabled facilities

ReshapeWhileDamp · 21/07/2012 19:48

CMOT, I think the Wallingford site mentioned was Bridge Villa - on the opposite side of the road from the paddling pool (as was! ) and the smaller campsite beyond that. As far as I know (my PIL use it), Bridge Farm has no access probs beyond crossing the road to get to the footpath side of the bridge over the river. And has EHU. Grin

IME, it has to flood seriously to waterlog Bridge Villa campsite. The field (water meadow) beyond does get very swampy but the campsite is normally fine.

White Mark Farm is fab! Watlington is a bus ride away from Oxford, or there's park and ride.

The CCC one behind Go Outdoors is bang next to Redbridge Park and Ride, which is handy if you think you'll be going into Oxford a lot, but has train lines just behind, and also some sort of scrapyard (?) or something - anyway, something bloody noisy with lots of mechanical din. Handy if you run out of gas, though. Grin

Oxfordshire is lovely when it stops raining and there are lots of 'pottering' things to do in that particular area, South Oxfordshire.

comixminx · 21/07/2012 20:25

Quite a few years ago now and I can't remember the name, but we went to a nice campsite very near the White Horse at Uffington: quite basic though, not sure if it'll meet yr requirements.

holmessweetholmes · 21/07/2012 20:58

I'd really recommend Cotswold View campsite. Lovely, quiet, friendly, good facilities, little wildlife trail. Fab.

comixminx · 21/07/2012 23:15

Turns out the one I was thinking of was Britchcombe, already mentioned above.
