It is this one.

The instructions are pap. I have never seen or even been in a tent never mind put one up!

I am only in the garden, but really wanted to do it before DH gets home.

I have pegged down the ground sheet and put the poles in and now I'm stumped. How do the poles go in the ground? And how do you fasten the tent to the floor?

TIA

At the end of the poles there are two rings and a short peg, how does this work with the pole that has the little loop on it to secure it all into the ground?

Am trying to visualise your description of tent pegs/poles. Is there a link to instructions at all

suwoo · 04/08/2010 16:02

The Instructions are on the link in the op but are worthless.
Thanks for offer, hope you feel better soon.

you need to slot each ploe along one side - into the slot thing..then peg down one side and go to other side.

you will find that the poles bowed flop all over the place - try to get them to flop in just one direction and then once you have goen to the other side you can pop the pole ends into the slots as the other side is pegged down and so you can push a little agianst the other side

then when you have doen this - and you can do it (if i can put various tents up that not used before on campsite on my own - with everyone watccing) you can do it.

if you still can't push agiant the other side get soemthing heavy

go on you can do it

This is exactly like talking someone through how to land a plane in a disaster movie.

Without imminent danger of explosion, obviously.

suwoo · 04/08/2010 16:11

I've got the poles through the fabric bits but unsure how to secure them to the ground? I know I have to peg them but what holds the tent fabric to the floor? Do I have to go thru the rings?

My head is in imminent danger of exploding.

tsk suwoo am very disappointed that you have tried this on your own after my very sage advice and everything.

moonmother · 04/08/2010 16:16

Where your poles are at the bottom of your tent, you should have a ring and a short peg attached to the canvas, by each pole. The short peg goes up inside the pole end and that's how your poles stay up.

It will be really hard though on your own as , as you go around the tent putting the poles into the pegs you will need someone to hold the poles upright till you've got the tent pegged out.

notwavingjustironing · 04/08/2010 16:21

I'll make some scones if you can manage it.

suwoo · 04/08/2010 16:25

Moonmother what do you mean inside the pole? I am so nearly there now! Gotto go to work in an hour. Can someone talk me through iton the phone?

OP posts:
moonmother · 04/08/2010 16:28

Yeah inside the pole

SharonGless · 04/08/2010 16:31

Yes inside the pole...keep going you are almost there.
Bugger are you North or South Manchester I want to pick up sick bucket and pop round now. We would have it done in two mins

ShowOfHands · 04/08/2010 16:38

Have you managed the poles yet?

Either the little metal peg that you found at the bottom of the tent near the pole ends slides into the end of the pole itself. Otherwise, if there is no hole in the end of the pole, the metal end of the pole sits inside a ring on a tab in the same place.

Here is a video of one type.

You don't fasten the poles to the ground, only to the tent. You then peg the tent to the ground.

notwavingjustironing · 04/08/2010 16:40

It takes a whole online community to raise a tent.

ShowOfHands · 04/08/2010 16:44

here is the pin version, about 1.04 into the video.

It once took a whole online community to help a woman put up curtains too. That was a long night.

suwoo · 04/08/2010 16:47

OK, I've kind of done it!

notwavingjustironing · 04/08/2010 16:49

Yay!

See, told you it was empowering!

Well done.

moonmother · 04/08/2010 16:49

Lol congratulations

how does it look ?

SharonGless · 04/08/2010 16:53

Thank God for that - can you post a pic?

suwoo · 04/08/2010 17:00

You'll all piss yourselves! The bedroom bits are a bit 'flappy' ie they are not flush to the ground.
