I cook all my own foods, by and large. I input recipes for everything

So at the moment I am eating a portion of freekeh, I make a batch, pop it in the freezer and each portion is a serving in my recipes

Same for the curry thats with it

Eating out is harder yes, Im excellent at eyeballing weights so at an independent restaurant, try to work out what Ive had, or use a luxury brand (Cook, M&S) equivalent and accept it wont be perfect or at a chain restaurant the amounts are usually there, or an equivalent

It wont be fooproof because there is always a margin of error but I have found it largely successful

I have recently switched to nutracheck after using MFP for years and it is so much better. I was getting annoyed that MFP had so many duplicate entries and I was never convinced it was accurate as a lot of the content is user generated. The bar code scanner on NC is fab - I have yet to scan anything it doesn't have the info for. Even obscure things.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 19/05/2024 13:01

I’m trying Nutracheck as I got so fed up of MFP changes.

CocoapuffPuff · 24/05/2024 11:23

I prefer Nutracheck too. I love being able to create my own recipes but find that easier to do on the laptop, mainly because it's faster to type etc on that. It's been transformative for me. So much easier to use than my fitness pal, although I'm very grateful that it was around to be used before Nutracheck came on the scene.

soupfiend · 25/05/2024 08:54

Does nutracheck have calcuations per 100g or is it per 'serving' given a lot of it is input by the bar code?

everycowandagain · 25/05/2024 08:58

@soupfiend often both ie my tesco ham has the info per 25g slice and per 100g. You can edit for number of slices or number of grams.

soupfiend · 25/05/2024 09:01

I would have to reinput all my recipes, theres quite a lot there.

JohnCurtice · 25/05/2024 09:03

Another vote for Nutracheck. I like how you can always choose to track by realistic helping sizes (“one medium slice of bread”) for when you can’t weigh things which MFP doesn’t offer on everything. Also find it gives sensible options when you search so you don’t get that thing of typing in “apple” and having to scroll through pages of “McMeekins double caramel apple whip” or whatever before you find the generic food.

Massivescreen · 25/05/2024 09:05

I wanted an app last year so researched similar threads and Nutracheck seemed to be the one everyone recommended so I paid for a year. I have no complaints and would recommend.

soupfiend · 25/05/2024 09:27

I think I might take the plunge at some point as its in the last year that Ive noticed it go downhill

Although just referring to the bread example above, If I ate bread out, say this morning we might go for a cafe breakfast, I would just enter for sainsburys medium sliced for example though. (if its bog standard sliced bread Im served)

Overthemenopause · 03/06/2024 21:25

I downloaded MyNetDiary yesterday and it's a nice app, but would like to be able to use the recipe import without paying for it. Is Nutracheck better? Lots of you are using it, I don't like MFP and after they lost my data in a breach a few years ago I refuse to use them again.

Webbedlife · 10/06/2024 18:56

I have just gone back to counting after letting things slide for months with inevitable results. I did okay with MFP in the past and have also tried Lose it but had a look at Nutracheck based on this thread. Obviously it's day one but I'm finding it very easy to use so have subbed for the year (35 quid now and still worth it).
