Calorie-counting

Looking for recipe books or website because I’m clueless and don’t know where to start

I recently signed up to a Boot Camp at a local gym. It is going okay and I think that if I can stick with it, walk 10,000 steps daily and stick to the calorie allowance they’ve given me I should lose weight.

The problem is I’m completely clueless when it comes to thinking of what to eat because in the past my eating habits have been terribly unhealthy.

As part of the Boot Camp it is suggested that we eat 80% non-processed food, and be mindful to eat enough protein. Other than that the guidelines are pretty loose which is a bit of a problem for me because I’m totally lost about where to start.

Could anybody recommend any recipe books, or plans, or websites/Facebook pages that might help me please.

Thank you Mumsnet

I recently brought 'the slimming foodie' 1 pot cookbook. So far it's been brilliant, stuff is all really low calorie and cook from scratch so non-processed. Have made 2 recipes and they have both been delicious. Lots of veggie meals which means it's cheaper than other books I have tried but plenty of beans etc for protein

I like the Hairy Dieters Cookbooks. Delicious and realistic and include suggestions on how to adjust for family meals (I don't know whether you're single?)

I second this. The recipes are also family friendly. They give a lot of good recipes like curries, stews etc that my husband likes, as they don't feel like "diet food".

Two Chubby Cubs and Pinch of Nom are good as well.

Scott Baptie has a free high protein cookbook. You have to put your email address in and the emails are a bit annoying though.

Fitness blender is a free online exercise site and there’s recipes on there.

Mindful chef will try to flog you a weekly food delivery but the recipes are good.

What sort of food do you like?
