Hi all,

Long time voyeur and commenter but first post ever.. Shock

all lighthearted Smile

What are you best tips for losing weights? A thing you truly swear by?

I’ve recently lost 10kg, hoping to lose 5 more and mine are:

  • 2L water, everyday, no excuses! Does wonders for my skin and energy.
  • Apple cider vinegar, a shot daily, maybe its a placebo but I don’t crave sugar as much and have fewer digestive problems.
  • Run, I detest it, I loathe every moment but I really do think keeping it up consistently is honestly the only think that’s helped me lose the weight, I’ve calories controlled on much less before but the running has really helped!

No snacking between meals. Ensures you get used to regular eating and helps with digestion/bloating.

Jenjenn · 21/05/2020 15:44

My fitness pal set at 1300 cal a day.

BestestBrownies · 21/05/2020 15:47

Brush your teeth after every meal

My Fitness Pal
Apple Watch - and hit target every day
Controversial...but skip breakfast

lmfaoo · 25/05/2020 18:53

Buy a recipe book with calories listed, so handy to have fresh ideas and homemade recipes and know exactly what's in them

managedmis · 25/05/2020 18:54

16:8

Lower carb

If you don't want to eat it, don't have it in the house

Eckhart · 25/05/2020 18:57

Eat a gherkin when you have a sweet craving.

CourtneyLurve · 25/05/2020 18:59

Bulk out meals with a ton of veg. I'm lazy so I use the frozen steam bags.

blueskys72 · 25/05/2020 19:00

16:8 if you can manage it. Start at 12:12 and work your way up.

Pipandmum · 25/05/2020 19:03

My Fitness Pal. Tracking everything. No cheat days.

If you don't want to eat it, don't have it in the house

With bells on.

It’s difficult with young children sometimes but I only buy snacks for DS that I know I won’t eat.

BasinHaircut · 02/06/2020 12:33

Also, you need to be completely honest with yourself about what you are eating and count everything. Don’t forget the dash of milk or spoonful of sugar in hot drinks. This is so important, especially if you are eating up to your calorie allowance, as a few brews could push you over by 150 calories a day or more and then there was that biscuit.....or that leftover chicken nugget on the kids dinner......

SinglePringle · 02/06/2020 12:37

Weight Watchers and track everything. I like WW because I like I can snack on a carrot and it’s not counted.

2-3 litres of water every day

ABSOLUTELY: if you don’t want to eat it, don’t have it in the house.

Weigh everything. Put back that ‘last’ spoon of houmous - it will put you over your calories / points.

Find an exercise you like.

Hunger is not always bad. Drink some water.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 02/06/2020 12:39

Eat more veg.

Simple. Minimal oil. Lots of vegetable.

wizzbangfizz · 02/06/2020 12:46

Place marking cos I really need help - was doing well with 16 8 but have fallen off wagon - need to return to that tread.

My own is sprits with soda water instead of wine 🍷

ClashCityRocker · 02/06/2020 12:48

For main meals, put half a plate worth of vegetables (that aren't potatoes) on your plate first.

Try and find smaller plates too.

I work on calories on a weekly basis rather than daily. It means I can factor in days where I'm likely to eat a bit more and plan lighter days around that.

cherrypiepie · 02/06/2020 13:04

Great thread

Track every single calorie
Have a written diary and app
Sit down to eat and food on plate
Planned timed snacks only
1200 calorie limit
If you want to eat wait 20 minutes to avoid impulse grazing
Portion control eat smaller amounts
No cheat days
Cheat meals with weekly calories max 1 per week or ok
Have a light day with poached eggs for tea once a week
Hunger is ok - it lessens after a while
Don't eat exercise cals and burn 200 a day.

I also have a list of treat and have them max once per week eg crisps dessert, cake, biscuits, ice cream within allowance

I bought a 12 week tracking book.

riotlady · 02/06/2020 13:18

Ice lollies for a treat! Mini twister is only 38 calories and really nice.

Sunnydays123456 · 02/06/2020 14:44

Love this thread !

IF as much as possible
Water
Exercise a little bit every day (not too much as it makes you too hungry tho)

Low carb and loads of veg

onyxrose · 05/06/2020 18:01

These are all so great and have helped me keep motivated and vigilant on MFP!!

Whisk an egg yolk with one tbsp of sugar on high for ten minutes. Makes a fluffy white cream that helps with any sweet cravings. And it's not too high in calories especially if you don't have it all in one go.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/09/2020 14:03

Buy spices. And ensure you have some vinegars, worcestershire sauce, etc. A lot of spices and herbs. A lot.

Make sure what you eat is tasty. If it doesn't satisfy you mentally, you will feel like you are missing out on "something". Food full of flavour is simply a must.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/09/2020 14:05

Also. A "normal day" worked for me. I lowered calories by couple of hundred on 6 days to credit them to 7th😁 The fact that I can just go and eat whatever and drink without worry is really helping.
