Serious accident at primary school

When I picked my son (Y5)up from school today, I noticed he was wearing his hoodie pulled tightly over his forehead, even though it wasn’t raining. When we got home, he started to complain and said he wanted to be homeschooled because he does not like school.

He is usually a very energetic child, but this afternoon he went to bed around 5 pm — very early for him — and said he had not slept well the previous night.

When I woke him at 7 to check if he wanted something to eat or drink, I noticed that the front of his hair had been shaved very closely. At first, he would not talk about it. Later, he said he had done it himself, but this seems unlikely — we do not have a shaver at home, and the cut looks very even, as though it was shaved.

I am very concerned about what may have happened and

This needs reporting to the police. This is assault.

If it was an electric shaver or a shaving blade needs to be established. Luckily your DS will be protected against Hep B if he was born in the UK but I would ask for a blood test for Hep C and HIV immediately and in 3 months time(very very low risk even if it was a shaving blade but I believe precautionary is best).

Don't go to the barber until you've been to school.

I would take a photograph of his hair for the record. So you have evidence that it happened. Good luck for today op and l hope that you get to the bottom of it. Your poor ds. 💐💐💐

It sounds like what he’s telling you right now is definitely a lie in some capacity if the hair is gone from the front but he’s saying he doesn’t know who did it because it was from behind… I also don’t think a child would get a straight cut with clippers at all let alone sneaking up on another. More likely it was scissors and hair held tightly in a chunk and cut close to the scalp and either he did it himself or another kid did it but if it was someone else then he must know who.

Just to give you my experience in case helpful- DD cut off the front of her hair with scissors when she was about 7/8. It did look like it could have been done with clippers because it was so short. She did try to hide it initially with a baseball cap. When confronted initially there were a few outlandish lies like the cat had apparently done it whilst she was sleeping. She eventually fessed up though. When she did she was upset and didn’t want to go to school anymore in case the other girls laughed at her hair. But then we went to the hairdresser, thankfully this all happened over a weekend, who disguised it into a fringe and that was the end of it all.

My sister cut a chunk about the size of a 50p at the front of her hair in primary school, totally denied doing it. I think she was a little compulsive and didn't realise how daft it looked afterwards

Your title is very alarming.

HIV cannot pass through intact skin. No broken skin or bleeding skin was mentioned. Plus HIV, once exposed to the open air, does not do well in it being able to potentially be passed on due to the receptors on the surface degrading.
