Son broke both wrists

My son has broken both his wrists after some boys did a prank on him that they call 'benching'. (Wasn't sure what it was so I looked it up on youtube).
IT was during a p.e lesson on the astro turf, after spending hours in a&e then fracture clinic the next morning I went into school on the Monday morning to see what they were going to do about it.
They took statements from students and teachers but nothing seems to be done except the child who pushed him over has been excluded for 3 days. My son is in a cast for a minimum of 6 weeks he is unable to sleep or do anything for himself and for a year 8 boy for your mum to come into the bathroom with you is really embarrising.
I am exhausted as I am up at all hours with him, I really am not thinking straight could anybody please help with any advise as I don't feel like school have done enough or any help easing his pain.
Sorry for the rambling but I am at my wits end

Write to the Governors, the LEA and I think Ofsted would want to know too.

I’d certainly give Ofsted a quick call. That would make the school sit up!

Let us know what response you get from the Police

What a cruel “prank”.

Definitely police. If my son broke two wrists I’d go beserk!

MollyHuaCha · 16/11/2017 15:46

Outrageous. Two broken wrists may head to arthritis when he’s older. Poor boy.

bakingcupcakes · 16/11/2017 17:54

What did the police say OP?

Branleuse · 16/11/2017 18:01

im glad someone asked what it was, as when i googled its a dating term.

i hope he heals quickly. Is it bullying or were kids just being dicks as a one off?

Police are sending someone to talk to my son tomorrow.
I have also been called into school tomorrow as the hospital referred the injury to the county safeguarding team.

Well done
What an awful thing to happen, your poor ds

GreenTulips · 17/11/2017 00:15

The police will usually take the community police route
They should at least address the issue of behaviour with all students and give warning or similar incidents

RedRubixCube · 17/11/2017 00:20

I would be fucking raving if this happened to one of my dcs Angry
Good to hear it's been referred to safe guarding and also Police involvement.
Your poor ds, I hope he will be OK Flowers

Primaryteach87 · 17/11/2017 00:20

Glad the police are involved - horrendous.

chocz · 17/11/2017 14:01

Good on you OP.

I am so glad the Police are involved.

I hope the school reassess their response.

mummyhaschangedhername · 17/11/2017 14:06

Your poor son, horrible thing to happen. Let us know what the school say.

Pibplob · 23/11/2017 13:52

What did school say?

Filzma · 23/11/2017 14:12

I hate to imagine if it had been his head fractured instead of his wrists. Incidents such as these make me more inclined to homeschool. 😔

LoniceraJaponica · 23/11/2017 14:19

"I have also been called into school tomorrow as the hospital referred the injury to the county safeguarding team."

That is excellent. This will force the school to do something about it.

Allthebestnamesareused · 23/11/2017 14:31

It is likely that the boys involved will face a GBH charge if they are over 14.

Allthebestnamesareused · 23/11/2017 14:31

Or even if they are between 10 and 14.

Amaried · 29/11/2017 13:44

Any update op.
Hope you got some resolution.
