How do exclusively BFing mums do it?!

Serious question. I’m pregnant with my 2nd. I would love to EBF but pumped with my 1st, largely so that we could ‘split’ the nights and I could sleep for 4/5 hours in one go before taking back over. I want to EBF my 2nd and not pump, but is there some sort of hack to this?! I know postpartum mums are basically superwomen but seriously how do people manage if baby feeds every eg 2 hours?

You surrender yourself to living that way for at least 4 months. Feeding every hour, cluster feeding, long feeds.
You do it and tell yourself it’s not forever it will get better. Your whole sleep will have to change, you kinda learn to sleep as and when.
It’s hard. I’ve done it with 4 children and each time I’ve had a moment of wtf, it wasn’t like this last time. Knowing that it gets better is what helped me. Plus it got me thinking deep about the billions of women that came before me that had no choice but to breastfeed.

We had one of those cots that attached to our bed - safe sleeping but no having to get out of bed to feed. Partner also did every night time nappy change. Meant we both missed sleep but neither of us got to the point of total exhaustion (EBF until 6 months - never expressed)
