What can you do whilst breastfeeding?

It's early days for me atm, but so far I can:

Walk down the stairs
Post on mumsnet
Make a cup of tea

but I'm sure those of you with toddlers have reached the dizzy heights of multi-tasking!

make a sandwich
get a drink from the fridge, then a cup .....
tidy up kitchen worktops

Papillon · 14/08/2005 08:44

if you bf with baby in sling then venturing out in public is also possible

hercules · 14/08/2005 09:38

Telly
nattering on the 'phone
computer stff
one-handed typing as we speak, hence no caps.

...and for everything else, there's the backpack.

Prufrock · 14/08/2005 10:09

I managed to push a pram laden with shopping, hold toddler dd's hand, walk, take a phone call and bf all at the same time

Twiglett · 14/08/2005 10:18

I find its a bad idea to ever encourage any multi-tasking when breastfeeding because then people won't bring you drinks and chocolates whilst doing it

(but when nobody else is around I could cook, telephone, mumsnet, write)

Kelly1978 · 14/08/2005 10:21

How??

While feeding one I could jsut about walk around and type or read. While feedign two, I could read a magazine and that weas it. Very boring!

fqueenzebra · 14/08/2005 10:50

change the 2yo's nappy.
cycle on a turbo trainer (like using a stationary bike)
stir whatever is cooking

spidermama · 14/08/2005 13:08

Cut the baby's finger and toe nails.
Pick the gunk out of his ear.
Scrape away cradle cap.
Gross eh?

hunkermunker · 14/08/2005 13:09

SM, I used to do that - baby maintenance! LOL!

Papillon · 14/08/2005 13:10

Stare with undivided devotion at your baby - they like the attention

Do this especially on weekends or when partner is home so you can put your feet up etc

pootlepod · 14/08/2005 13:34

Sleep... and then wake up amazed that you haven't rolled onto the baby!

lol at Twiglett and Tipex!
I go (well used to) to an aerobics class run by a human dynamo with 6 kids. My very pro b/feeding m/w (also a friend0 goes to,and she told me one day, with utter awe in her voice that she had seen this woman b/feeding and teaching aerobics!!!

Bozza · 14/08/2005 20:19

Just the usual really that has already been mentioned. Went on holiday when DD was 6 weeks and breastfed in a different pub/restaurant/cafe every day. Also did:

read stories
did jigsaws
built lego
cleaned DS's teeth etc

Niddlynono · 14/08/2005 20:24

Miaou · 14/08/2005 20:30

Wander round museums.

Drink a nice glass of red wine. Or possibly two.

moondog · 14/08/2005 20:37

Smoke

Just the once though,4 years and 3 months ago.

Still feel bad about it...

Lonelymum · 14/08/2005 20:42

I did practically everything including frying food and meeting my neighbours a day after moving into our new home. Literally I stood there in the front garden (one of those open plan gardens) chatting to my neighbour with dd attached. She must have wondered who had moved in next door! She commented to her dh about my lovely baby girl and he said "Is it a girl?" and she said "Of course she is, she is dressed in a pink dress!" I thought to myself, I bet the reason he didn't notice the baby was dressed in a pink dress was because he wasn't looking at the baby, but my boob!

Lonelymum · 14/08/2005 20:43

at you Moondog. Not the done thing at all!

moondog · 14/08/2005 20:48

I know. I'm as rough as a bear's arse on occasion.

(Don't get me started on getting pissed while b/feeding!!!)
