I thought things had got better after my visit to the baby bistro on Friday.

We got to the point over the weekend where he wouldn't even take the breast into his mouth . I think he is having a growth spurt (12 weeks) and I don't think I have enough milk to cope with it. Lets face it, I barely had enough milk anyway.

He was starving and had barely wet nappies so I had to give him a bottle which of course he wolfed down. He did bf overnight but this morning had a small feed and was crying and rooting for more but wouldn't go near my nipple- just cried.

He has had two 4 oz bottles and one breast feed since 7 am.

I have been crying all weekend and desperately hope that I may be able to give him a bed time feed and that my milk will stick around in order to do that.

I pumped four times yesterday and only got 2 oz (yes, I know its no indication).

As those of you that have followed my threads will know, I have tried everything to make this work, but unfortunately my body has got the better of me.

To have fed him for 12 weeks is more than I could have dreamed of, but that also makes it worse because we have come so far and now I feel it is being cruelly snatched away.

Anyway, enough of my waffling, just wanted to update you all and thank you for being with me on my journey.

Here endeth my self absorbed post

So glad you are still going. What a superstar. And 8oz in a bottle is fab - well done for pumping that much!

awww well done for getting this far just agree with the rest of the posters here, you made a fantastic effort and given him the best start in life. There was a poster who posted something about each stage of bf and what it does for the baby which was very good. enjoy your baby, mabey you could still bf in between bottles if your milk is still there or start relactation.

Hey Suwoo,

This is an old post so I'm not sure if you are still reading but I just wanted to add a 'Go You!!' to all the others.

People are sooo strange about bf at times and it adds soooo much pressure, but you have done BRILLIANTLY!!
Plus feeding a bit of boob milk in among the formula is great. You know that your bub is happy, healthy and growing (showing your love and respect for the wee person)and is still getting all the good stuff from you.
I hope that you are proud.

Oddly enough the local Health Visitor to where I live said that babies get all they need (in terms of health) from your breast milk by 3 months. The doctor then agreed with this. Interesting huh?

Anyway. Well done. Breastfeeding is not easy and babies don't always want to and you have done great getting where you are. :-)

As with KatherineHepburn not sure if you are still reading. You are doing an absolutely fabulous job. My DD1 would not bf at all absolutely refused, and it was heartbreaking, you are being incredibly strong to carry on. DD2 is the exact opposite of DD1 and absolutely refuses a bottle in the same manner as DD1 refused the breast!!

You have given and continue to give your absolute best, as has been said here previously this is only a small but rather significant part of having a LO. Soon dc will be eating food and this part will be done...
