All that reassuring/uplifting music and the fluffy images.

Eh?

differentID · 20/09/2009 19:35

you are, I presume, being sarcastic?

bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:19

They're good adverts though eh? I wonder who their ad agency is

Misspaella · 20/09/2009 20:21

??????????

differentID · 20/09/2009 20:26

the ads are a huge pile of horse shite- full of bollocks and ridiculous assumptions

bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:32

Like what, differentID?

Bang, I assume you are looking for a scrap?

differentID · 20/09/2009 20:34

I think you know exactly what.

I've stated my case on other threads as have lots of other people and I'm just fed up of them implying that bf should stop at 6 months and you can magically switch over to follow on stuff which was only invented to get around the laws on advertising infant formulas in the first place.

CharCharGabor · 20/09/2009 20:36

Have to try harder than that bang!

AitchTwoToTangOh · 20/09/2009 20:37

but an advert can still be great even if you don't agree with the message, surely? i've not seen this one, i don't think, but that c&g one with the giggling babies is shit hot (and also despicable etc).

Grisette · 20/09/2009 20:38

Is it the apatamil ones which will purporting to advertise follow on milk, actually have a baby that is clearly younger than 6 months being bottle fed in them?

bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:38

I don't believe I know you differentID, so I'm not familiar with your stated case.

The Aptamil ads are the only formula ad I've ever noticed on TV, so I think they must be pretty influential.

Poledra · 20/09/2009 20:40

And one of them (cannot remember if it's Aptamil or C&G) uses the phrase 'move on from breast-feeding', suggesting that it is something you should be moving on from. That's clever use of language to suggest that you're backward to keep on bfeeding - a good script writer there.......

AitchTwoToTangOh · 20/09/2009 20:40

what's it like?

yy, and the one with the dads promising to do the night feeds, poledra. evil genius, that.

shonaspurtle · 20/09/2009 20:42

Yes the Aptamil ads are very good at seeming to support/promote bf while suggesting that actually their formula is just as good (see how it puts a weird ReadyBrek glow round the baby to protect it from evil germs just like the breastfed baby ).

I bf and sheeplike chose Aptamil. Their promotion is very, very good.

bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:43

Yes, that's the aptamil one "move on from breastfeeding" like it's a development milestone or something.

Very, very good ads.

I wonder if the NHS have considered advertising on primetime TV to promote b/fing (dread to think of the scandalous costs though!)

OP posts:
bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:45

Yes Shona, I've always thought of aptamil as being aimed at those who have breastfed first rather than ff from birth. It sort of tries to sell itself as a middle ground between breast and formula.

nhs scotland runs some very nice ads, actually. aptamil in trouble interesting about the rulings, though, i'd tend to disagree with them.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 20/09/2009 20:47

yy i used aptamil for that reason, in fact my aunt even called me to tell me that it was the formula most like bm. (she's not a nurse, just a busybeak).

bangandthedirtisgone · 20/09/2009 20:49

Yep, I remember my friend telling me that when her baby was jaundiced and the hospital made her give formula they encouraged her to choose it as it was 'the best'

they are great aderts. a pack of horrid corporate filth, sold as healthy wholesome babies.
