I've stated my case on other threads as have lots of other people and I'm just fed up of them implying that bf should stop at 6 months and you can magically switch over to follow on stuff which was only invented to get around the laws on advertising infant formulas in the first place.

The Aptamil ads are the only formula ad I've ever noticed on TV, so I think they must be pretty influential.

And one of them (cannot remember if it's Aptamil or C&G) uses the phrase 'move on from breast-feeding', suggesting that it is something you should be moving on from. That's clever use of language to suggest that you're backward to keep on bfeeding - a good script writer there.......

Yes the Aptamil ads are very good at seeming to support/promote bf while suggesting that actually their formula is just as good (see how it puts a weird ReadyBrek glow round the baby to protect it from evil germs just like the breastfed baby ).

I bf and sheeplike chose Aptamil. Their promotion is very, very good.

Yes Shona, I've always thought of aptamil as being aimed at those who have breastfed first rather than ff from birth. It sort of tries to sell itself as a middle ground between breast and formula.

nhs scotland runs some very nice ads, actually. aptamil in trouble interesting about the rulings, though, i'd tend to disagree with them.

yy i used aptamil for that reason, in fact my aunt even called me to tell me that it was the formula most like bm. (she's not a nurse, just a busybeak).

Yep, I remember my friend telling me that when her baby was jaundiced and the hospital made her give formula they encouraged her to choose it as it was 'the best'
