All that reassuring/uplifting music and the fluffy images.

Heh. I had to buy some formula a whe llile ago for dd and chose SMA Gold as I've heard it tastes the sweetest. And it was cheaper than the others too.

ISWYM now bang. Apologies, I assumed you were just looking for a scrap.

ladylush · 30/09/2009 10:11

I think the ad is clever

Eirlys · 30/09/2009 17:07

I watched it via the Guardian link and was most confused by the Absolut vodka ad that preceeded it. Now that is a well matched ad

Does the woman really say "if you decide to move on from breasting" or is that the dodgy quality of my computer playback?

flubdub · 30/09/2009 18:16

She says "When you decide to move on from breastfeeding." Likes its something you are definately going to do.

trellism · 30/09/2009 23:06

I was really surprised at my ante natal class last week when most of the ladies thought this advert was for infant formula. I realised that the reason I know it's not is because I know it's illegal to advertise infant formula, and not really because of anything specific in the advert.

I want to use Aptamil because it makes your baby radioactive. That's the message, isn't it?

Habbibu · 30/09/2009 23:13

Aptamil smells like overcooked cabbage. Is that meant to reflect the use of cabbage leaves for engorgement? They don't advertise that, anyway...

BouncingTurtle · 01/10/2009 08:22

'Yes Shona, I've always thought of aptamil as being aimed at those who have breastfed first rather than ff from birth. It sort of tries to sell itself as a middle ground between breast and formula.'

And that's why ALL formula advertising should be banned. Because no formula is supposed to be aimed at women who successfully breastfeed.

Formula is vital for women who cannot or choose not to breastfeed. But it still continues to undermine women who do want to and manage to breastfeed by implying that they should move on to formula for their good and the good of the child.

GruffaloMama · 01/10/2009 16:52

Well said Bouncing Turtle.

BTW my DS had to have formula in hospital (v low blood sugar) while I was still hooked up to drips etc in the delivery suite. They told my hubby that Aptamil was the best. And then poured it down his nose.

Bitter, me???

The adverts are genius. But all adverts should be banned. For any breastmilk replacement product. They undermine BFing.
