A stirry bump here

hunkermunker · 17/04/2009 00:31

I didn't think it was possible for Annabel Karmel to go down in my estimation...

MarsLady · 17/04/2009 00:38

anythings possible Hinker!

MarsLady · 17/04/2009 00:38

Is Fussymum one of us? She's posted a very polite, but I think rather pointed question about becoming qualified as a BF counsellor, and is asking Claire how she set about becoming qualified! A mod stepped in quickly and suggested she just ask locally, but she came back saying she'd still like to know how Claire qualified...

Methinks this is a trick question! I hope so, anyway!

MamaHobgoblin · 17/04/2009 17:44

Yes, looking again, I'm sure it's a dig at CBC's lack of quals and up-to-date-knowledge - poster has made only these 2 posts and joined this month. Look:

"I'd love to become a breastfeeding counsellor so I can help other mums breastfeed. I overcame many difficulties myself so know how valuable support like this can be. I was wondering who Clare did her training with, what qualification she got from it and would she recommend it? Also, is it paid work or is it something you have to have a real passion for? Thank you"

and

"Yeah, thanks - may do that, but tbh I was hoping for something more - I want to be qualified and have as much up to date knowledge as possible. I was really hoping Clare could give me her recommendations. I'm not saying I'll ever be on quite the same level as Clare but I'd love to know how to go about getting equivalent training. I may not get there straight away but it's something I'd like to aim for at least."

Nice one, whoever that was!

Rindercella · 17/04/2009 17:51

Ok, I am going to be thick here. Who is Clare Byam Cook and what are the ishoos with her?? (tis a genuine question I promise - I really haven't heard of her before)

tiktok · 17/04/2009 17:52

Shh....no, it's not me, honest, but I agree it looks like a plant.

We should not draw attention to it - it may be 100 per cent genuine, anyway.

I happen to know CBC reads (or has read) mumsnet. I am certain AK's moderators will.

Just let people ask what they like. Bump this thread from time to time.

You know I am making sense

TheCrackFox · 17/04/2009 17:56

I know I am going to sound like a real thicko hear but who is Clare Byam Cook?

MamaHobgoblin · 17/04/2009 18:00

Oh, sorry. Should I get MN to delete that? Well, I suppose if CBC is scanning MN for mentions she'll find this thread anyway.

tiktok · 17/04/2009 18:06

Leave it, MamaHob.....as you say she will find this thread anyway, and she will be alert to mentions of her name.

Hi, Clare

(CrackFox and Rindecella - check mumsnet archives and google her)

KERALA1 · 17/04/2009 18:08

Though I was flicking through my Annabel Karmel book as about to start weaning dd2, and couldnt help giggling at her instructions as to how to boil a courgette. Blimey you really do have issues if you need AK to tell you how to peel and boil vegetables!

TheCrackFox · 17/04/2009 18:17

Ahh, another baby guru. Just what the world needs.

MrsJamin · 17/04/2009 18:26

love the way they talk about their children on there - "little feckers", "little gits"

Where do I post a question?

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2009 18:33

Can we all just preface our posts on this thread with the following little snippet:

"In my humble opinion, which is nothing to do with Mumsnet..."

and end with a

"I know nothing at all, honest guv, my opinions aren't worth the paper they're written on".

Copy and paste please.

PMSL at the unholy trinity!

FaintlyMacabre · 17/04/2009 18:35

Haha Lulu, was about to post using exactly the same words! Also in my own (very humble and completely ignorable) opinion.

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 17/04/2009 18:37

obviously, i know nothing about weaning or breastfeeding. honest guv. am just a cabby called arnold. with a penchant for tweed flat caps.

Rindercella · 17/04/2009 18:50

Have both googled and checked the MN archives. I am now fully enlightened (or certainly am as enlightened as I wish to be in this matter).

In my humble opinion I am astounded that I have successfully b/fed my DD for 19.5 months without ever coming across this lady.

chequersmate · 17/04/2009 20:34

Ok, I know what's wrong with the other two, but seriously, why is AK so bad?
