Is it possible for PND to be linked to breastfeeding in some women?

I bf both dd and ds and am now expecting dc3 in April. I bf ds for 11 months and dd for 15 months with ds I had quite bad pnd and with dd had mild pnd, each time the pnd improved though the year but seemed to totally go in the month following the dc stopping bf. My question is, was this a coincidence or can there be a link between pnd and bf? Btw I really enjoy bf, but obviously hate the pnd. I am wondering what will happen this time around?

I think there are lots of things that can impact PND.

For some people, breastfeeding is a factor. My mum had PND with me and she said it lifted when she stopped BF at 9m. Personally, I find BF gives me anxiety and I am looking forward to stopping. I fed DS for a year and felt much better when I stopped. DD is currently 11m so I am going to be starting to give up next month. I feel bad writing that because I love my DD so much, but I just don't think I can BF much longer.

crokky you have done REALLY well doing so long

dc6 is 7 months and i am planning on stopping soon

he is still on 4 feeds a day PURELY down to my anxiety surrounding my milk supply and how much milk i have
once i drop a feed - i anticipate it will all drop off quite quickly ...

boobs huge due to four feeds so hoping self esteem may improve when boobs shrink a bit!

I think with bf when you give up, it felt for me 'great, I can pass the buck sometimes! And relax!' A sense of relief because you don't feel trapped knowing that if you want to go out for however long minus the baby, he or she will be fine and be fed.

crokky hats off to you My dd2 was still on 6 feeds, 3 meals with puddings and snacks at 6mths, I had enough!
