Breastfeeding in public

I can not believe the amount of stupid men (and women) out there who think breastfeeding mothers should feed babies in toilets or just not leave the house at all. Breasts have become so sexualised that they are not seen as something to feed our children anymore. Breast is most definately best, FACT! And when I am out with my screaming, hungry baby I will not hesitate to stop and feed him anywhere. I am not flaunting anything to anyone or trying to make anybody feel uncomfortable, just making sure my baby is happy. Please help change the law by signing this petition

How come the Health Department Guidelines state that we should bf for the first year if possible, but we're only "Allowed" to do it in public for 6 months???? Is this not a contradiction? I have happily breasfed in public, but only very discreetly, as I was still secretly terrified that someone would comment, although I (Wrongly) felt very satisfied that I had done it afterwards!!! My daughter is now 6.5 months, and I now feel a bit strange about doing it in public

I do see your point, not sure what the solution is
Maybe calling them "Optional feeding rooms" or simply "Quiet rooms"?
fifi - you are "allowed" at any point. You're just not allowed to bop them over the head with your brick filled handbag after 6 months

Sorry SPB, that was a X-post and you made me choke on cornflakes cakes!

Yes, in Scotland you have the support of the police until the age of two and I should imagine the backing of the sex discrimination act after that.
