Infant feeding through history. Fledgling (very atm!), but I'll add to it.

Did people really do all that before nursing??

I think the nipples in the microwave thing would be preferable!

scaredoflove · 27/10/2008 14:11

Op's link doesn't work for me Would like to see it too

Cadmum · 27/10/2008 14:11

ftsb: You mean that there are mothers who don't do all that.

Ha! No wonder you all have hours to spend on here...

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 14:17

Bastards. Mention of wedgewood feeders has made my teeth itch (I was picturing those unglazed blue things), and now I'm grinding my teeth and can't stop. I blame hunker.

RedOnHerBeheadedHead · 27/10/2008 14:25

Habbibu i have that same feeling! sand in your sandwiches!

I can't get the blog to load so can't comment, but I doubt it's boring and will look later.

Interestingly, a ?Scandinavian women I saw a couple of times at a mums and babies group used to wipe her nipples with a mediswab before feeding. Poor baby, must have tasted awful! My aunt was told to do similar in the 1980's in France.

I posted on another thread about my Grandmother's medical textbook from the 1930's which stated that breast was the best and only necessary food for the first 6 months of a baby's life. So fortunately she avoided all the 50's silliness, and breastfed in a perfectly normal fashion

Blog seems to be down from the public side, but I can still get into the dashboard. How odd.

TWWAT, people generally aren't shy about having digs at me, so I'm sure if there are some who were thinking the same as you, they'll be along in a minute.

hehe, I thought it said interesting addiction which I thought was a little presumptuous!

iMum · 27/10/2008 15:06

yet utterly understandably naturally.

iMum · 27/10/2008 15:06

understandable even

hunkermunker · 27/10/2008 15:09

Why, of course, iMum. I'm addicted to it myself That's me, Hunker.

Hunker, you haven't even apologised for making my teeth itch. What kind of a person are you?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 27/10/2008 18:32

TWWAT - how rude

ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 27/10/2008 20:35

Have just looked right through website and found it absolutely fascinating. Thanks.

hunkermunker · 27/10/2008 20:44
