Just saw an advert for this on telly - worth a look!

I'm quite interested actually... what do you think?

whomovedmychocolate Tink was never offered DBM - I guess cause she wasn't really sick - but the girl in the next bed was and her mother was adamant against it. It was written on her feeding chart and everywhere! It shocked me, I couldn't get my head around her decision.

From what I've read of this programme it's going to be from a positive POV, but then so was the Extreme Breastfeeding programme. There is something on the February 09 thread about the programme.

Poohbah · 09/09/2008 19:32

I thought Kate Garaway bottlefed her baby.

TinkerBellesMum · 09/09/2008 19:39

According to her interview she didn't and said she would rather spend lots of money on DBM than on formula.

Poohbah · 09/09/2008 19:43

Do you know why she didn't? I can't stay up until 10pm.

TinkerBellesMum · 09/09/2008 19:54

Because she thinks that breastfeeding is the most normal and natural way to feed her baby, I guess?

nappyaddict · 09/09/2008 19:57

naughtiestgirl - would you mind someone actually breastfeeding your child though or would you prefer it to be EBM?

Poohbah · 09/09/2008 20:09

Oh I read your post wrong...I saw an interview with her a few years ago and she swore by Gina Ford's routines. How did she manage that and breastfeed???

Poohbah · 09/09/2008 20:10

I would feed another baby no worries, straight from the boob if required.

Poohbah · 09/09/2008 20:14

She mix fed her baby from 3 weeks old...

TinkerBellesMum · 09/09/2008 22:05

I misunderstood her statement in another article.

I didn't know Stella was going to be in the programme, she's not said anything, unless I missed her post!

Heartmum2Jamie · 09/09/2008 22:09

I will watch it but tend to find these type of programmes do nothing but make people think even worse things about those who breastfeed than they already did (a bit like that extraordinary breastfeeders programme which made out that people who breastfed their kids for an extended period and lets not forget that extended in the UK actually means over 6 months, but in reality it means past 6 weeks, were freaks). I extended breastfed/did child led weaning AND donated my milk to poorly babies who needed it and am sad that there are not more women like me around. I have seen the newspaper articles, heard people taking about it and doubt this programme will do anything to help breastfeeding mothers. Thankfully I don't give a flying monkeys what other people think about my choice to breastfeed, how long I chose to do it for and my choice to help babies who's mothers can't help them themselves, it's really no-ones business but my own.

Incidentally, I would happily breatfeed another child (providing I have enough milk to go around) and from the breast if necessary. I am not entirely sure how I would feel about someone else breastfeeding my baby if I was physically able, but if not, I would rather the baby had breastmilk (would have been very important with ds2 as he has multiple food allergies)

ILikeYourSleeves · 09/09/2008 22:14

Has anyone actually tried their own breastmilk? (the woman in the prog just asked that) I've not, well I've licked it but couldn't taste anything. Maybe I need to down a shot glass?

MrsBates · 09/09/2008 22:15

ARRRRRGHHHHHHGGGHHHH. This old chestnut again. There is nothing wrong with formula feeding. There is nothing wrong with breast feeding. Do what you need to do, but try to wean them before they get adult teeth.

rascal1979 · 09/09/2008 22:16

Poohbah - I have two friends doing the Gina Ford and exclusively breastfeeding - It can be done - not my cup of tea but it works for them!

Going to carry on watching and will post back later!

RedHead81 · 09/09/2008 22:16

RedHead81 · 09/09/2008 22:20

OP posts:
timewaster · 09/09/2008 22:23

I tasted my own bm - (drank some from a cup)(does that make me wierd?) very sweet, watered down skimmed milk.

TinkerBellesMum · 09/09/2008 22:24

There are only 17 banks in the country but they supply all the hospitals, so obviously they do collect. If you are able to donate then get in touch with your local hospital and ask them or there is a website.

Am I the only one who is skeptical of "medical reasons" as a reason not to breastfeed?

lilysmummy2007 · 09/09/2008 22:25

hi all its on now!

TinkerBellesMum · 09/09/2008 22:26

lol "wean them before they get adult teeth" shows a total lack of understanding of how breastfeeding works!

RedHead81 · 09/09/2008 22:28

AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!
ITS NOT NOT NOT SEXUAL!!!!!

OP posts:
