Yes he still small, he still wears 0-3 clothes at 28 weeks old. But he certainly isn't FTT anymore. He is a solid little boy. I am so pleased I kept BF him, because I am sure if I was a first time mum, I would have given up when the HCPs were forcing the issue of formula.

ohmigod what a fantastic job you've done growing him so gorgeous! Fantastic thread. Lovely to see your profile pics with him growing and thriving. I remember your posts when you were getting all kinds of shit advice and you just kept going. How brilliant that you're still BF...

SparklyGothKat · 05/04/2008 22:47

I am a stubborn cow lol!! I am so glad I wasn't a first time mum, and that i had the support of MN. I would have given up if I didn;t have all your help and knowledge to throw at the HCPs. Callum has a checkup on tuesday with the doctor that said if he hadn't put on weight within 2 weeks I had to stop BF, so that will be very interesting... [raises eyebrows]

Give that doc hell, Sparkly!!!
But OMG, Callum is massive!!!! And bee-yoo-tiful!! Can see why you're broody again!

osyth · 05/04/2008 23:04

He is lovely and you are very pretty.

What does FTT mean?

NorthernLurker · 05/04/2008 23:09

FTT is failure to thrive isn't it? What a load of nonsense that turned out to be! You have done so well - he is utterly gorgeous! (and a great advert that a premature baby can be successfully breastfed.)

SparklyGothKat · 05/04/2008 23:30

Thing is I knew a premature baby could be Bf successful, Dd2 was a tiny 3lb 8oz when she was born at the same stage as callum, and I started feeding her in SCBU and managed 5 months of Bf with her, so i wanted to do it again for Callum. It is the best thing for a preterm baby, yes its hard and very tiring, but now I can just throw a nappy in my bag and go, no bottles, no formula and its easy. He has to come everywhere with me but he is worth it.

BF a premature baby is very rewarding.

Oh what lovely pics sgk - he looks very similar to ds2 who is 8 months old (he is small too, though not that tiny!). What a beautiful baby he is.

And I'm really pleased that you want to be a bf advisor/helper (sorry can't remember the term) - I've just been approached and asked the same thing, though wondering if I can fit it in with everything else! - I think you would be a great inspiration to women struggling with b/fing.

Nemoandthefishes · 06/04/2008 10:52

SGK he is gorgeous
I hate all that FTT crap as it just makes people worry. DDs both formula fed and I was told they were both FTT but DD1 is such a little chunk now and DD2 is doll like but thats just her.

shit · 06/04/2008 10:56

aw, lovely pics sparkly.
you are a fabulous mum, respeck!

SparklyGothKat · 06/04/2008 11:00

I wouldn;t have minded but I am 5ft tall and weigh 7 1/2 st. Dh is 5ft 6 and is skinny. Ds1 is tiny for 10 and weighes 3 1/2 stone. Dd1 is the same size as Ds1 and weighes the same (she will be the tall one) and Dd2 is about 122cms tall and weighes 2 stones. We are all small and yet they didn;t figure that out!!

awwww, he's a cutie. You should be proud mama!

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 11:05

How gorgeous is he....what a sweety

magnolia74 · 06/04/2008 11:07

Omg, he is HUGE compared to a few monsth ago See what that fab b/m has done!!

SparklyGothKat · 06/04/2008 11:08

My parents went through something similar with ME. My mum stopped taking me to the clinic because they said that I was FTT. They were even reported to SS because apparently they didn;t feed me!! All through primary school, there was concerns about my weight, and even at 16 when I had a medical at school, the nurse then phoned my dad and asked if I had a eating disorder FFS. I am very small built and always have been.

misdee · 06/04/2008 11:12

SGK packs food away. i remember being called into the nurses office at primary to be compared to SGK and them calling our parents as well.

shit · 06/04/2008 11:17

warraloada rubbish eh? and to think theres planty of kids who actually could do with all that concern...

well done you for sticking to your guns.

SparklyGothKat · 06/04/2008 11:23

I was worried that we would be reported to SS if I didn't give the formula, and we did hold of the formula for ages, in the end he had it for 2 months and that was enough to get the scbu nurse off my back, and get discharged from her care. He was 12 2oz when I last had him weighed at the begining of march so yes he is small for 6 months old but I don't care anymore.. I know he is healthy and doing well (as he was before)

OP posts:
shit · 06/04/2008 12:27

he is delicious.
and just the right size for me to have a dig in the grown-out-of clothes archives and see if theres anything worthy of his loveliness if youd like... lemme know if you would and i'll have a dig and send it (does he sleep in sleepy bag things? i have bundles of those in his size)

edam · 06/04/2008 12:35

Bloody well done SGK, not only is he absolutely gorgeous but you've proved all those doomsayers wrong. I do hope the message will get back to all of them...

Jacanne · 06/04/2008 12:39

Well done SGK - he is lovely and you did so well to persevere despite all the opposition.

SparklyGothKat · 06/04/2008 16:23

shit (thats a great name BTW) yes he sleeps in the bags, my SIL said he should wear them all the time, because he looks so snug in them I need some new bits, I was given loads of bigger stuff but he is fast outgrowing his 0-3 stuff, especially with his cloth bum lol Thank you

NotABanana · 06/04/2008 16:29

SparklyGothKat · 06/04/2008 16:39
