DD is 21 weeks and excl bf, and now I have telltale cramps. I wasn't expecting any periods for a long time.

I got mine back when dd1 was just 8 weeks old, and still breast feeding two -three hourly day and night. Now that was bad luck.

MegBusset · 24/01/2008 08:33

Yep, mine came back at 5 months. Think it's pretty common actually, sorry!

StealthPolarBear · 24/01/2008 08:36

no, still haven't and he's 9 months
He did feed once every hour and a half to 2 hours during the day (unless having a napathon) and once or twice during the night.
belgo - that does sound similar, I should count myself lucky!!

belgo · 24/01/2008 08:38

I was so annoyed, and feeding so much at night still. I really thought if I bf at night it would delay my periods, but obviously not in every case.

StealthPolarBear · 24/01/2008 08:40

I've just thought, when you have your first one it must be like having your first one ever again - hope I don't get caught out!

bero · 24/01/2008 08:41

mine were back at 6 months (I didn't wean ds1 until 6.5 months), when I was excl bf every 2 hours in the day and 5-6 times at night. I actually posted on here saying 'this can't be my period, surely'. Oh yes it was

clapton · 24/01/2008 08:42

Mine returned after two weeks, I was not happy, thought I would get away with it for a bit longer.

MegBusset · 24/01/2008 08:46

Two weeks! I was still bleeding from the birth then! Would not have been happy if I'd got my period then too...

belgo · 24/01/2008 08:47

you probably wouldn't know the difference

MegBusset · 24/01/2008 08:52

What I mean is, it was bad enough with just the lochia to worry about, without periods coming straight back too!

I was still BF many times at night when my periods did come back, by the way.

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 08:53

YES!! 6 weeks after birth. I excl breastfed for 5 months.

mustrunmore · 24/01/2008 08:56

I think it was about 3 months after for me with ds2.

naturelover · 24/01/2008 08:57

Oh hell. Sounds like it could be my period after all .

IndigoViolet · 24/01/2008 08:59

I got mine 8 weeks after ds1 was born (excl breastfeeding).

Be careful - I fell pg with ds2 when ds1 wasn't even 4 months old and I was still excl breastfeeding....

phdlifeneedsanewlife · 24/01/2008 09:01

Ds is 9m, been on solids 3m, but still bfing a couple times a day and a couple at night. No periods here. Have been wondering just how far I have to cut down before they reappear...

mrsruffallo · 24/01/2008 09:09

I breastfed both my dc until they were 18 months and both times periods resumed after 9 months!!!

LittleBottle · 24/01/2008 11:13

My DS is 24wks and no periods here yet.

Anna8888 · 24/01/2008 11:14

Yes, my periods came back 6 weeks after I gave birth. I exclusively breastfed for six months.

I did get a lot of rest, though.

notnowbernard · 24/01/2008 11:16

DD1 - was about 7m, but then didn't have another one for about another 3m (wasn't excl. bf then either)

DD2 - 8m, same as above (still not really regular now at 17m but have just stopped bf, so who knows now?)

Pippi - so glad that things are working out . Little children are capable of taking on board many things we don't realise - until we try

Yes, periods back from 6 weeks. Very annoyed as bf is painful each time it arrives (hormonal changes i understand) - grrr
