That’s it really. Really curious as to what most mums did with regards to feeding

All 3 children B/F until 2 years of age. I just found b/f so much easier than making up bottles.

kagerou · 30/01/2022 20:52

breastfeeding mostly with some bottle feeding expressed milk

MrsCremuel · 30/01/2022 20:56

Currently feeding my 2.5 yo and 3mo. They both refused bottles and are enthusiastic breastfeeders. I’d have liked to have combo fed for a bit more freedom in the first 6 months but in the scheme of things for me 6 months isn’t that much.

Bells3032 · 30/01/2022 20:57

Mixed fed until 4 weeks with pumping as my supply was super low after she was born at 34 weeks. Despite pumping endlessly after 4 weeks was barely getting a few ml a day breast milk so gave up and strictly formula fed from 4 weeks.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 30/01/2022 21:01

Mix with both. BF to 8 weeks exclusively and then up to 8/9 months BF during the day and a formula feed at sleepy time as I found they were fuller and slept for longer!

lochmaree · 30/01/2022 21:05

Breast. I bf my toddler, he's just turned 2. and currently 19 weeks pregnant with no2 and plan on bf again, possibly tandem but will see how things go.

lochmaree · 30/01/2022 21:06

meant to say "still" bf my toddler. it's still the easiest way to get him to sleep. bf during pregnancy has been hard but manageable. I've I've going because it means a lot to my DS and because it makes my life easier in general.

itsgood2talk · 30/01/2022 21:07

Formula all the way

PackChique · 30/01/2022 21:07

Why Op?

KKslidoff · 30/01/2022 21:10

Formala from day one for both.

It doesn't matter how you feed your baby. When they start weaning they still throw it all on the floor and by the time they're old enough to develop their own tastes, they want to live off spaghetti hoops and ready salted crisps.

Lostmyway86 · 30/01/2022 21:19

Dd1 breastfed unsuccessfully for 4 weeks, pumped for another 4 weeks formula from 8 weeks.

DD2 pumped from day 1 and fed breastmilk via the bottle for around 2 months. Then onto formula.

CatCup · 30/01/2022 21:21

2 weeks breast, then formula.

britneyisfree · 30/01/2022 21:24

Breast. I had to express for a week from day 2 or 3 but we managed not to supplement.
Almost 2 and still going.

PotatoGoblins · 30/01/2022 21:24

I’ve done it all!
DC1 I initially breastfed, then switched to a combination of expressed Breastmilk and formula, then just formula.
DC2 I initially breastfed, but turns out he was a very poorly baby. Once diagnosed (in a very dramatic and traumatic way), our only option was special medical formula.
DC3 breastfed for 2 and a half years. Never had any formula, expressed milk or anything else as she refused every single type of bottle/cup offered!

ThatstuffCray · 30/01/2022 21:25

@PackChique no reason at all, I think I just wanted to find our what most people did but I can Google it. Seems most people breastfeed on this forum. I tried and failed to breastfeed 4 months ago

BF for first couple of weeks, little while of expressing but definitely mainly formula! Found Aptamil to be the best for keeping poos similar to that of a BF baby. Loved both options for different reasons :)

HerRoyalHappiness · 30/01/2022 21:26

I formula fed all 3 of mine from day dot.
I was abused and hate the thought of not having control over my breasts.
It hasn't affected my bond with my children at all, and you can't tell which kids were BF or FF once they're in school. Fed is best. As long as it works for your family thats what you do.

MsSquiz · 30/01/2022 21:29

I combi fed dd from day 1 until she was 4 months old, then went to formula only and plan to do the same with dd2 when she arrives in April

WTF475878237NC · 30/01/2022 21:29

This is a UK based site and the UK has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding in the world so this will be a skewed sample. The WHO keep a record of rates around the world if you're just curious.

If you're weighing it up read about the health benefits to you and baby and make an informed decision, but please don't go off a skewed sample's reassurance it makes no difference, because that's factually incorrect.

WTF475878237NC · 30/01/2022 21:31

I wouldn't say you've failed if you've tried! In the West it's often a lack of good support to overcome challenges of breastfeeding and not enough education about the normal process of establishing supply over months.

LavenderBlue95 · 30/01/2022 21:34

Exclusively breastfed for the first 5 months. Then had one bottle at bedtime from then on. He's now 13 months and has breast and cows milk

Etherealhedgehog · 30/01/2022 21:39

Breast until I went back to work at 9 months, then on to mixed feeding (formula in the daytime). Stopped bf entirely around 14 months

Bramblecrumble21 · 30/01/2022 21:39

Mixed from newborn, moved to ebf after a couple of months.

Bramblecrumble21 · 30/01/2022 21:40

At 9 months, also went to work but no daytime milk on health visitors advice. Breastfed until 2.5 years.

ProfessorPlumb · 30/01/2022 21:42

Formula fed by first having had terrible time trying to breastfeed, combi-fed my second
