But surely by not bottle feeding you are doing the same harm as not strapping your children in whilst driving. Surely everyone has to agree that makes sense?
Fio - just what I needed

lydialemon · 15/11/2004 14:48

Good grief, I'm with sweetkitty. I mixed fed with DSs and didn't have to with DD, and its so nice not to have to be arsed with all that sterilising/bottlemaking malarky again. Not that, I have to say, I did it very well before I'm far to lazy and disorganised to be a good bottlefeeder.

Angeliz · 15/11/2004 14:49

puer laziness.
If you choose to do it fine but don't get all defensive when questioned!

crunchie · 15/11/2004 14:52

Ah but what is an older woman??

I mean i am feeling really marginalised here I am a mid thirties woman and so far we have had younger mums (under 20's) bottle feeding, older ones (over 40's) breast feeding. What should I have done???? Please where do I start the thread???

Actually that would be a good thread,
Why do some people choose to breast feed and some to bottle feed when they are in their 20's and 30's

fio2 · 15/11/2004 15:17

yes crunchie that would be fine

it was a joke ladies, dont stress

Yes it is ridiculously lazy of older mums, far too interested in their own Shiela Kitza- wotsit 'bonding with baby'. I mean bfeeding just isolates the father, creates an unnatural sole reliance of the baby on mother. Must cause huge problems in later life. Must be the kids sobbbing at the school gates.

Did anyone see the Little Britain sketch on Breast feeding - classic!

Flum · 15/11/2004 15:37

I like breast feeding btw but it has left me T*ts hangin off me. Don't blame the chicklets one iota protecting their best assets from the ravages of a marauding bambino.

Nextdoorsdaughter · 15/11/2004 15:37

Had to make sure that my aging tits are good for something, now that I'm no longer on the pull....

WigWamBam · 15/11/2004 16:27

Because I'm lazy and couldn't be arsed. Why bother with a bottle when you can whip a boob out in the M&S cafe and give all the little old dears fits of the vapours?

crunchie · 15/11/2004 17:03

Actualy that little britan sketch is sooooooo perfect isn't it!!

dinosaur · 15/11/2004 17:05

Older mums can't be a*d to clean their houses either...

dinosaur · 15/11/2004 17:06

Sorry, that came out wrong - I meant to write arsed

There. That should be a bit clearer.

sweetkitty · 15/11/2004 17:21

when do you qualify as an older mum?

Am I there yet, at 29?

Cos I can't be arsed cleaning my house either! too busy bresatfeeding and watching trisha

TeriS · 15/11/2004 17:23

lol.. good one fio

blossomhill · 15/11/2004 17:34

I was a young mum and my house is always spotless
I have been personally offended yet again on the other thread!!!!!

hunkermunker · 15/11/2004 17:50

I realise this is a jokey thread (well, compared to the other one...!), but I will just say that I actually found the idea of making up powdered milk for a baby really repellent even before I had DS (well before - I clearly remember seeing someone making up a feed on TV when I was very young and scraping the powder to level the scoop and feeling odd about it).

I have no problem with personal choice, but just as some women find the idea of breastfeeding unpleasant, I find the idea of bottlefeeding the same. I'm not criticising formula, etc - that's been done enough on the other thread(!), just saying that to me, the idea of powdered milk makes me feel queasy. I really hope I don't upset anyone with this - I know I'm not offended that some women find breastfeeding repellent!

babbler · 15/11/2004 17:56

For some of us it's a must, otherwise our babies would be malnourished!!, and proberly not here.

fio2 · 15/11/2004 17:56

it is a joke, I didnt mean it serious but most bottlefeeders dont find breastfeeding repulsive, please understand that. i hate being discriminating against becaise I was a young mum who bottle fed

OP posts:
fio2 · 15/11/2004 17:58

discriminated obv, am in a world of my own today

babbler · 15/11/2004 18:03

fio2 · 15/11/2004 18:04
