How long did you breastfeed your baby for?

Just as the title says really!

I plan on weaning and continuing to breastfeed until I go back to work when baby is 9 months old. Would really like to carry on a bit longer though

Two years each (ish). Down to just once a day for the last 6 months or so. I reckon it helped us get through the winter bug season relatively unscathed. It is more common than it appears as mums often only feed at night or in the morning.

2.5 years. Longer than I would’ve liked but they were very attached by that point!!

18 months first, 2 years 3 months second. Went back to work full time at 12 months both times.

8 months. I was ready to stop.

About 13 months

14 months. I was ready to stop by then.

15 months, 24 months, 26 months. I expressed at work for the younger 2 - I went back at 6 months - and I’m really glad I did. I know formula is fine, but it allowed me to keep them exclusively bf, which was better for both me and baby, and made me feel better even though I was away from them during the day.

My DS2 is 2yr 5m and breastfeeds at bedtime 4 times a week (when not at work). Went back to work at 12m and do shift work

5 months for me. Aimed for 6 but happy with that. Much easier to wean a baby than a toddler. At the time I wondered whether I gave up too soon, but reading about all the weaning battles, bite injuries and meltdowns on here, I think my timing was perfect.

2.5 years for DS and four months (so far) with DD. Very much more than I’d planned with DS! I went back to work at 12 months with him, and just fed first thing in the morning and at bedtime. So I don’t think you’d have to give up completely if you didn’t want to. Good luck

8 months. Glad we did it, but i was really happy to stop then. His health is still excellent at 5.

9 months with both DC and it was mix of formula milk and breast fed, from 6 months because I had to go back to work.

So they were BF in the morning, FF at nursery and back to breast when home. The days I didn't work I stuck to the FF routine during the day.

Four months. I had to go back to work and felt it would be easier (not so much provision for expressing and storage in the 90s).

16 months and still going here. It's only been 1-2 feeds a day since 8 months when I went back to work full time, but DS loves his bedtime feed, plus a feed before his lunchtime nap on a weekend when he's home with me. I don't plan on stopping fully until he's ready to

Three of them between 18-24 months, one for 1 day, as he had health issues that were incompatible with breastfeeding, and I struggled to pump with other dcs at home.

I never intended to feed so long, but liked the closeness and calm of having a night feed after going back to work. Then around 13-18 months with each I've had a phase of wanting to stop, but they didn't, and then started enjoying it more again. Ultimately I've stopped at a time that felt right for us both.

Even if you are back, your supply and baby will adjust if you want to keep on, I kept doing night feeds until 12-18 months, then when I was ready to stop being woken at night, dropped to one before bed only, and kept that up for a while.

Two years ish (probably a bit longer than I would have liked) I went back to work when he was 5 months, but my milk adjusted amazingly to that, although he was nocturnal for a bit!

Two years each - and I went back to work at 9mo with DD1. It is possible if that something you want? Your supply is well established, so you can cut down and mixed feed from then.

12 months was the ideal time to stop for me. I just didn’t realise until Dc2 carried on and it started to get me down. DC3 is dairy intolerant, so again it just carried on. That was even harder though as I had to ge dairy free all that time too 😩 I missed my chocolate! Sometimes the dark stuff just didn’t cut it

Currently at 3 1\2 years. Went back to work at 18days old part time (self employed)
Full time by 10 months.
Expressed and never needed to use formula.

Worked for us.

10 weeks and that was just right for me and DD.

I have been unable to breast feed number 4 simile to latch issues but have been pumping every 2 hrs and he is 7 weeks. I am an under supplier so he gets Breast milk 3 times a day and formula the rest. I am ready to give up now but want him to have the anti bodies from my milk so I will carry on till 3 months if I can.

I am so so sad that I was unable to feed I really really wanted to and it still upsets me greatly.

2y4m with my son, it was lovely but I was so ready to stop by then.
My daughter is 8mo, I expect I'll probably feed her until she's 2 as well.
I know loads of mums who have gone back to work but carried on doing morning, bedtime and overnight feeds, don't stop if you don't want to.
