OK here is my contribution.
1.There was a woman I knew through work who was very wary of me because I sort of intimidated her intellectually and she had all sorts of preconceptions about me because of the university I had been to. I really liked her but I just couldn't get past the way she regarded me.
Then at this party I bf dd in front of her and she commented that once you've seen someone's breasts you can't help seeing them in a different light. We really bonded after that

  1. We parked in a layby once so I could feed and I saw a wren - have never seen one before.

(Sorry, I know these are a bit personal to me, but I thought it would make a change from the usual points about cheapness etc)

its very environmentally friendly therefore great for everyone!

lljkk · 21/08/2007 15:42

You still have something to feed them when they have a tummy bug and would sick anything else back up.

aloha · 21/08/2007 15:45

You can't forget your baby's milk or run out.
No sterilising.

ScummyMummy · 21/08/2007 15:48

It's cheap and very convenient for disorganised people who dislike cleaning.

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/08/2007 15:49

im loving this thread
come on ladies
add some more!

When they come off and toothlessly smile up at you, dribbling milk out the sides of the mouth, and then proceed to try to tweak the nipple... and you're thinking, "You cheeky little sausage! What have you in store for me in future years?!"

And you love them to bits for it, anyway.

aloha · 21/08/2007 15:52

Oh yes, it's FREE!
And it might, just might, prevent your daughter getting breast cancer one day, as well as reducing your own risk. But this isn't really about health benefits, is it?

littlepiggies · 21/08/2007 15:54

you can use your boobs like water pistols - hours of fun! not exactly what nature intended but still......

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/08/2007 16:15

yes aloha anything
positive can be added to this thread

reduces babys chance of getting eczema

cazzybabs · 21/08/2007 16:26

The little noises they make and they way the look up at you.

Plus the self satifaction that you can feel superior to people who bottle fed in the knoweledge you are doing what is best for you baby

cazzybabs · 21/08/2007 16:27

OHHH and all the nappy changes dh can do because you are havign to do most/all of the feeding.

ProfYaffle · 21/08/2007 16:30

You have a fail safe way of getting your lo off to sleep wherever/whenever you are.

When overbearing gp's are around, plucking the babe out of your arms, you've got the best reason to get her back without causing offence.

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/08/2007 16:35

ah yes love seing those lovely eyes looking up at you and knowing your solely responsible for keeping baby alive thinking ive done that

OP posts:
potoroo · 21/08/2007 16:40

When you get tired of looking at LO you can read with your free hand. I did lots of reading

You can do it asleep (or fairly close to asleep).

You can delegate housework to OH while you BF.

ThomasTankEngine · 21/08/2007 16:42

Hear this article spotted by Tumshie and listed on another thread for more reasons to BF

here

SKYTVADDICT · 21/08/2007 16:43

This thread really cheering me up. Been bf for 15 1/2 weeks and was considering adding ff in evenings because evenings/nights not too good at mo (last week slept every night from 9pmish until 7amish but not this week!). Not going to now as it is sooooo positive. Thanks x

thomcat · 21/08/2007 16:45

Their little fists beating and grappling at your breast.

The way they break off, look at your with such a cheeky look and then nuzzle back into you and relatch on seeming to be having a great fun time!

Laughing at your other children as they walk round the house breastfeeding teddy/dolly/the cat!!!!

Being woken in the middle of the night, rolling over and feed, neither of you really fully waking up.

Being able to go out for the day without having to take anything other than a few nappies.

Not having to panic about warming a bottle, keeping one sterilsed etc while you are out and about for the day

pregnantbabyelephant · 21/08/2007 16:53

thats great skytvaddict
thats why i started it

when they smile when they se your breast lol

OP posts:
kittenbaby · 21/08/2007 16:56

this is also making me feel much more positive 2 xx

heres another to add being able to help dc with bf when there older [if they wish too]

Piffle · 21/08/2007 16:59

you get to sit down a lot more
it burns cals,
I love doing it,
the noises, the snuggles the raspberries he blows when he is just there for the hell of it.

the pulling off and grinning and going back again, trying to suck his thumb and feed at the same time.

the lovely yellow non smelly easy to clean stains come out in the sunshine poo.

No need to get out of bed in the night.
no extra washing, preparing
it's free
Oh I just really like doing it can I say that again...

Apart from the fact that it's free, no sterilising etc. which was great, when I was breastfeeding I used to just love the smell of their breath, all toffee-ish and sweet. Aww! Brings back lovely memories of cuddling up for feeds when they were tiny.
