Breast pads!!!

Am finding Avent breast pads a bit useless. Seem to be leaking all over the shop in all sorts of embrarassing places. Doesn't anyone make them in super with wings?

He he!! I often used to wear multiple pads (seriously...).... and didn't often wear a colour that would show the leak....

multiple pads, multiple messages. Sorry!

Tommee Tippee and Lansinoh are the business. I had tits like fountains for the first 6 months and they were the only ones that worked.

thehairybabysmum · 14/08/2007 14:27

Fountains here too but found the Chicco ones excellent...could only seem to get them in my largish Boots though.

foxcub · 14/08/2007 14:28

Lanisoh are fabulous - very soft and ultra thin so they won't show through your clothes, but still very absorbant! Mothercare say they are their top selling breast pads

determination · 14/08/2007 14:43

i used to use the Heavenly breast pads which are identical to the lansinoh and tommee tippee until i went all green and started recycling!,,,then opted for reusable bra pads and shopping bags!

Nettee · 14/08/2007 14:47

another vote for Lansinoh disposables as the only ones I found that worked. the heavenly ones look to be better value though

MrsBadger · 14/08/2007 14:49

has anyone tried those Lilypadz things? are they any good?

3madboys · 14/08/2007 14:51

i found the johnsons and johnsons ones to be the best

determination · 14/08/2007 14:53

i have a pair of Lilypadz for swimming.. and i personally wouldnt use them any other time. i find that my nipples seem to stay looking quite erect but when i put the lilypadz on they flatter but look like they are still erect (hard to describe) but have air round them.. kinda strange looking. I didn't find them comfortable due to this.

Maybe this is because my nipples are now like a monkeys as i have been breastfeeding for over 3 years now! They are MASSIVE!

yelnats · 14/08/2007 15:03

Tommee Tippee ones are def the best. Apparently they are the same as the Lansinoh ones.

NoviceKnitter · 15/08/2007 10:12

Thanks everyone. I will be upgrading my Avent selection urgently!

I use lilipadz when off out and wearing something tight. Have tried reusable but they show like flying saucers, at other times I just buy the cheap ones from tesco or superdrug as they are quite comfy and very cheap!

determination · 17/08/2007 20:50

I would have to add here that "most" reusable pads are thick but the Lansinoh Washable pads are reasonably thin when washed and ironed... If you fancy joining the "save the environment group" this is the best reusable i have found..

DO NOT waste your money on Medela washables they are crap

but

Lanowool breastpads are also very thin and sososososooo comfortable, only thing is they go oval once washed

whomovedmychocolate · 17/08/2007 20:51

Bollocks to headlight like breastpads. I use fleece nappy liners folded in half - just really lightweight ones and they absorb a lot more milk and you also don't have that really obvious circle effect on your boobs which makes you look like you are hiding coasters!

tassisssss · 17/08/2007 20:52

tommee Tippee here too - though I do think a fiver a box is having a laugh..i had to use them for months and months

determination · 17/08/2007 20:57

when you get 100 heavenly for a fiver it makes it a bit better... but i still vote for the lasinoh washables!

Pannacotta · 17/08/2007 20:59

Tommee Tippee are the best I've used, exactly the same as Lansinoh disposables.
MrsB havent used the lilypadz but was put off by one poster who swore they reduced her milk supply (due to the pressure they apply) and another who said they were hard to use discreetly in public. Congrats on the cub arrival btw!!

meandmy · 17/08/2007 21:02

i used to use two bp and a breast shells to collect all leaks, also used washable pads

Catilla · 17/08/2007 21:06

I've also found Lansinoh fab. In fact now my leaks are only occasional (but when they happen are too much for "normal" or washable pads)... so I wear my Lansinoh ones for several days. When the leak happens, the pad thickens (like gel in disposable nappies) rather than leaking - and only then do I change it. Saves a bit of money at least.

HelloMama · 17/08/2007 21:07

another vote for lanisoh ones here, although it used to pain me everytime i opened one of the 'individual wrappers' for the millionth pad and wish they just sold them in a box unwrapped like all the other brands. The lanisoh washables are also good, but i used to save them for nighttimes because they do look obvious....

ja9 · 17/08/2007 21:11

another vote for lansinoh or tommee tippee. wouldn't trust anything else...

pinkyminky · 17/08/2007 21:14

I used lanisoh disposables at first they are fab (don't like the excessive packaging though) the avent ones didn't work for me either. I used the lanisoh washables later.

pinkyminky · 17/08/2007 21:15

excuse my inability to spell the brand name properly!
