Help with engorged boob please!

DS is two weeks old and has a mild tongue tie, they said the latch was ok and didn't need cutting.
He has been feeding and put on weight but my nipples are really sore and worst is one boob gets really full and sore, the other not so bad.
How do I make them even? I am tempted to just use the full one but I know that's not right as it will just keep producing. I think it is already overproducing as milk just pours out.
Any advice please?
Midwife coming tomorrow but I don't find her very helpful. Breastfeeding group not on til next week and that feels like ages.
Help please!
Thanks.

He's old enough not to poo that often now. After two weeks they sometimes reduce in frequency. How do you know he's not full? Does he settle at all? How long does he go between feeds? I would try a bit of a babymoon with skin to skin and free boob access to try to help him get the hang of it. The key to avoiding mastitis is to removing milk from the breast either by feeding or expressing, and catching it early with massage if you feel any lumpiness or have redness or pain. It has to go quite far before the pus removal stage.

When he does poo what does it look like? Is he weeing plenty?

Thanks for your reply. Sometimes he does not settle after feeds, but he also has colic so it's difficult to know if he is still hungry.
His poo is very liquid and yellow.

It sounds as though he's doing really well. When you say colic what do you mean? Sorry to keep asking questions but people mean all sorts of things by colic. Does any of this seem likely - he has made you sore with his poor latch, but you've got plenty of milk and he's not having to work very hard or feed for long, but he takes in air when he feeds so he gets full of wind and uncomfortable? You can reduce an oversupply, but it's generally not recommended until baby is 6 weeks because your supply is still sorting itself out. We are having similar issues albeit much less severe.

How's your nipple pain now? You could try exaggerated latch /flipple technique for a better latch - there are videos on YouTube.

Colic as in inconsolable bouts of crying for no known reason. It happens every night between 8-11pm.
The latch was bad and he had his TT cut, he is getting used to it, I think. But the fact that my nipples are sore after feeding suggested to the Dr and HV that I could have thrush. I am taking meds for this now and I think the pain is less.
Thanks for the support

And when he is crying like that he doesn't feed even tho he does all the hunger cues. It's very difficult.

That sounds really hard. It's prime evening cluster feeding time when he's upset so it's curious that he won't feed then. If he has any calm time during that period I would offer boob. Maybe try holding him skin to skin in a wrap sling, or have a bath together - I have known some difficult babies to latch on the bath.

Thrush is rubbish. Hope it clears and stays away. I am finding lansinoh cream helpful at the moment for sore nipples.

I really feel for you, hope today is a better day.

DD had colic too, for much longer, 6-10 hours so 3 hours is manageable for us.
Thats what I do, I just offer the boob when he is calm.
