Do we really need all these breastfeeding photos/news articles?

Do we really need to see all this all over the place?

It has gotten to the point where it is being shoved down our throats (no pun intended) and it is making bf quite unappealing on so many levels.

what happened to it being a loving,PRIVATE thing between mother and baby?

Do we really need to see it all over the place and boobs everywhere?

LOLOL - that's not there for balance, that's to make you think they support breastfeeding and that their formula is the same as breastmilk.

passmethewineplease · 12/08/2015 18:30

What news articles are you referring too?

There's only one I can think of right now where the mum breastfed her friends son as wel with her permission I might add.

I don't see it every day in the news at all, what news are you reading?

SoupDragon · 12/08/2015 18:31

Your attitude shows exactly why breastfeeding articles and promotion are needed.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 12/08/2015 18:33

Yes all the same stuff that can be categorised as "media". News should contain news so if it's all about breastfeeding then it is because there is news about erm, breastfeeding.

And as for the formula adverts having a breastfeeding baby at the beginning... DO YOU NOT HAVE EYES AND A WORKING BRAIN?

SoupDragon · 12/08/2015 18:36

I see many bottle feeding mothers out "privately" feeding their babies. I see no reason why they should have their silicon teats and plastic bottles out all over the place...

LeChien · 12/08/2015 18:36

I regularly see babies being bottle fed on FB, or with a dummy, and no-one bats an eyelid, no-one comments at all, apart from obligatory "how cute" kind of comments.
The very few times there's a breastfed baby there's usually some twatty comment about it "get yer tits out" from someone very funny Hmm
The last time I saw breast feeding photos on FB was when someone linked to a blog showing some lovely photos of babies being breastfed, going back decades, but it was only linked so that the poster could say "I wouldn't want my hubby seeing these, he'd feel very uncomfortable" and "it's all a bit attention seeking isn't it? It's not about feeding a baby" which gave me the rage and makes me think the FB friend is pig ignorant.

The articles I generally see are about a restaurant or retailer asking a mother not to feed her baby.
This needs highlighting as it's against the law.

I am 100% certain that i am not in any kind of minority with these thoughts and opinions.

There is no new news about breastfeeding - do it, don't do it.
that is pretty much all there is to it....it aint complicated!!

"I am 100% certain that i am not in any kind of minority with these thoughts and opinions."

No you're right, there are hundreds of Daily Mail readers who share your opinions, isn't that sad :(

mooma3 · 12/08/2015 18:40

well FB is a totally diff kettle of fish.

In the last few months it has gone crazy, celeb shots of it, people in the news going on about it... etc etc.

Soup - once again i will repeat myself ....it isn't about the feeding , feed anyway you like but i don't think we all need to be hearing about it and seeing boobs in the media and wherever...

I must be browsing the wrong media all I ever see are those totally appropriate images emphasising as breasts as secondary sexual organs. Hmm

passmethewineplease · 12/08/2015 18:40

Actually for some people BF IS complicated.

CultureSucksDownWords · 12/08/2015 18:41

I would stop reading the "news" in the Daily Mail and the like, where you get non-stories about the minutia of people's lives.

I'm intrigued as to how there can be no news about breastfeeding? There was a story today about Mexico deciding to stop offering free formula on demand in hospitals to try and increase breastfeeding rates for public health reasons. Is that not news?

ajohnson1991 · 12/08/2015 18:41

WORST THREAD

At 23 I was nervous about breastfeeding my first baby in public/out and about because of people like you. You clearly have issues with the sexualisation of breasts. Babies have to eat. Mothers have to feed them. I'm not going to confine myself to the house over fear my child may need to eat and people like you may oppose it.

GET OVER IT. Confused

passmethewineplease · 12/08/2015 18:41

Mooma care to point or where it's in the media every day?

TheBookofRuth · 12/08/2015 18:41

Did you get lost on your way to Netmums OP? Distracted by all the boobs perhaps?

LeChien · 12/08/2015 18:43

It is about feeding, and people stupidly equating breast feeding to weeing and pooing in public, and poor men feeling uncomfortable about it, and that attitude needs to change.

mooma3 · 12/08/2015 18:44

jeepers - no point continuing with this thread you are all of a 'type'.

and well....i shan't say what i want to.....

totally ridiculous

Are you reading The Nursing Times op? Or perhaps Mammals Monthly.

Full to burst with lactation both of them.

LeChien · 12/08/2015 18:46

Actually I think BigMouth makes a brilliant point.
Every day we are bombarded with images of boobs that are there for advertising and "entertainment" purposes, far more so than images of breast feeding which is, after all, their primary reason for being there.

CultureSucksDownWords · 12/08/2015 18:47

Oh please do say what you're thinking OP! Go on, it's a public discussion forum after all.

WhatWouldFlopDo · 12/08/2015 18:56

Yeah we need to see it. There are a lot of people who don't know anyone who breastfed their baby and haven't seen any of their peers do it.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 12/08/2015 19:12

I haven't seen any BF photos where are they?

This is my favourite.

SoupDragon · 12/08/2015 19:21

Oh, do make your mind up...
"i am not seeing breasts everywhere - i am taking about breastFEEDING"
"I see no reason why they need tops down/off and boobs all over the place."
